“amazing service!”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

recently visited Appley Manor restaurant with my parents and four nieces(aged between two and eight), the food was lovely and great value for money, but the service was simply amazing.

The waiting staff on that evening couldn't have been better; they were friendly, chatty and very welcoming and accommodating to the children.

would definitely come back.

The hotel is clean though caught in a bit of a time warp. Towels only bath sized though the shower is excellent. Easy walk down to the beach and good value for money. Did not eat in attached restaurant as too large and impersonal, some excellent ones within 10 minute walk. Had breakfast in hotel on one morning, good quality and fresh but again, easy to walk and find food on the seafront.

Was really, really pleased with this informal relaxed hotel which did not compromise on cleanliness or service despite being well priced.
When we arrived we found some staff by going in to the pub/restaurant- the lady was very helpful as were all the staff. Our family size room was wonderful! Much better than i expected, and i was not hoping for much as there were a lack of images on the website. It was dated in decor but huge with all immeneties. It had a lovely big flat screen tv with freeview and massive full length mirror with great lighting from massive windows. It was a period property with tall ceilings and felt luxurious despite being out of date. Considering the decor was old it was remarkably clean and the bathroom was well done and quite modern. It had all I needed and more and it was quiet too with a good view and great location for Ryde town centre. We had a lovely time here and the breakfast was surprisingly good. we had an english breakfast and I am very fussy but was happy with my eggs, bacon, sausage etc. there were also cerial and juice available. Lots of parking, nice garden area. the only thing I can think of is that the room info book wasn't very informative about food or breakfast or room service or anything like that and there were no instructions on using the phone or numbers to call for help but I worked it out in the end. Would definitely recommend our room (family room 5) and can recommend the food and service/staff too.

Room Tip: My room, family room 5 i think was great

I stayed in the Appley Manor Hotel on the 03/05/13 and again on the 08/05/13. Very comfortable. and the food was nice and filling, After a long days walk from Shanklin to Ryde. the bath was more than accommodating to soak my aching feet. The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean but unfortunately very dated and tired . I would stay again

I have just returned from a stay at the Appley Manor Hotel in Ryde on the Isle of Wight and cannot recommend the hotel and its staff highly enough.

From our arrival until departure the staff were courteous and helpful and the rooms airy and clean.

The restaurant provided an extensive menu to suit every taste and hunger.

We will certainly be returning next year for a further stay.

Having visited this place some time ago,and found it wanting, our friends suggested we give it another go.Food was very good value, and plenty of it.Loads of choice on the specials board.Staff were polite, and meals arrived promptly. My jacket potato was huge, and the tuna mayo was superb, but had to leave some of it.
But,the downside.Everywhere looked tired, the carpets and wallpaper are in sorry need of replacement. The entrance is unwelcoming, shabby and untidy.A quick spruce up there would work wonders. The fabric seating is in need of a clean too.If all these matters were seen to,this venue could really stand out as being one of the best value eateries in Ryde.

Reviewed 24 February 2013 via mobile

Went to this restaurant on Saturday, on entering, the first thing that was noted was how tired the facilities are, and the carpet was grubby.

The menu was looking cheap and was simply a laminated sheet of paper...the dessert menu looked like something from the 1980's and the pictures looked un-appealing.

After making our choices I went to the food order point, and was ignored. When the man took my order, he was very withdrawn from what I was saying and simply put the card payment machine in front of me. (Ordered the manor platter starter, ham egg and chips and a pasta bake with 2 soft drinks for around £30)

I was given my drinks, and I returned to the table. The starter came out quickly, it was simply a array of fried "nibbles" dumped into a metal tray with some wilted salad and 2 dips. No plates or cutlery given until we had already eaten 1/2 of the starter.

When the main meals arrived the ham, was incredibly thin, the eggs where not cooked properly (the white was still runny) and an overload of chips dumped on the top. Poor presentation. The pasta bake was acceptable, however the bread was stale.

In all a disappointing visit and will not return in any kind of hurry.
