We have just spent 4 nights here, in a downstairs room with patio and lake view. We were very pleased with our choice. It is a beautiful, modern and clean hotel in very pretty location. It is also located conveniently close to the ferry terminals at East Cowes, Fishborne and Ryde, and close to tourist attractions like Osbourne house and Carisbrooke castle. Our room was stylish and the bed huge and super comfy. The air conditioning in the room was easy to use and effective. There was a good selection of teas, coffee, hot choc, biscuits and 2 types of mineral water, replenished each day. The bathroom was elegant with pleasant toiletries and fluffy white towels. The hotel would be an ideal choice for disabled guests (if they requested a downstairs room) as it is well layed-out and spacious with ample disabled parking by the entrance. The staff were lovely and friendly, especially Roxanne on reception. We didn't use the spa itself, but we did enjoy the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The pool was only a modest 10m, but it wasn't busy on the occasions we visited. The restaurant area had a wonderful view of the lake and Wootton Bridge. Weather permitting there is also outside seating down a few steps from the main bistro. Breakfasts are superb. There is a buffet of juices, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts, mini pastries, and a super selection of hot breakfast items. As well as this the kitchen will prepare food to order such as smoked salmon and scrambled egg, eggs benedict, etc. I almost gave this hotel top marks, but for the service in the evening in the bistro. We went to the bistro on our first night. After being seated we waited 25 mins and no one took our order or offered us drinks. It wasn't busy, so there was no excuse for this. My other half was ready to leave, but I didn't want to go elsewhere as I was tired from the journey, so I resorted to going to the bar to ask if some one could take our order. When the food arrived it was mostly good, well-presented and tasty. Unfortunately the side dish of veg was carrot and mange tout, and all the mange tout was stringy, which spoilt every mouthful. We decided not to go back to the bistro. However we did give them one more chance later in the week. We had seen on the menu quite a feature of the cheeseboard. Akin to a wine list it described very many cheeses including 3 local to the island. Sadly when we got there half of the cheeses were unavailable. So to sample the 3 local IOW cheeses we ended up going to a local farm shop on our way home. There was a more upmarket dining room available, but it wasn't open every night and we didn't sample it. So in short I would highly recommend staying at this lovely hotel, but I'd suggest you make alternative dining arrangements in the evenings. Within a short drive there are plenty of other places to eat.
