“Full of surprises - better than it looks!”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

My husband and I stayed over Bank Holiday weekend, largely because it was the last hotel available at short notice and were really pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and luxurious feel of the place - in spite of a very average exterior. You do need a room by the lake which we had - and we had our own patio too. The set menu each night (with 3 choices for each course) was very reasonable price for delicious, top quality food. A la carte was available but much more expensive. The Spa, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were all lovely as well as the added surprise of the water-therapy jets in the pool - one for shoulders, one for aching back, hip areas - and on our last morning a helicopter landed on the green outside our window. Added to the sense of surprise and fun. We would definitley recommend it - but take a car - and explore the rest of the island - nothing much to do at the hotel except relax, chill out in the spa (which can get busy) and eat!

Room Tip: Choose a room with lake view and patio (specify that's what you want) and make sure you book a d...

On approaching the hotel we were a little apprehensive as it looked bland despite its lovely setting. It still looked a bit like a chain hotel on entering the reception areas and corridors. However, the room was excellent, a good size, quality furnishing and high quality bathroom. Delightful. The dining experience was first class, excellent food, beautifully presented, at very reasonable prices.
We had a relaxing massage in the spa and a swim in the small pool.
The views of the lake from our room and from the dining room were also a real plus factor.
We had a delightful three days on the island, easy to get around from the hotel without using the car, we used the convenient public and tourist transport available from the end of the drive. We would certainly recommend this hotel for a first class break on the island.
A visit to nearby Osborne house is a must.

Room Tip: Go for a room facing the lake

My husband and I and another couple stayed at The Lakeside Park Hotel recently and it was fantastic. Laura was who we finalised our booking with and she couldn't be more helpful.
The rooms were spacious, clean and we also had a patio to sit out in the evening and enjoy the view of the lake and the wildlife.
We also had dinner in the restaurant were the food was well presented and very tasteful.
The sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi were great, just what u need to relax.
All four of us have decided to return.
Thanks to all the staff at Lakeside.

I recently visited the isle of wight and stayed at The Lakeside Park Hotel. I was greeted at reception pleasantly and my room was great. Clean, Tidy and spacious. Perfect for me and my husband. In the evening, we had a meal in the restaurant and it was amazing. The staff were lovely and attentive and nothing was any hassle to them. The next day, we then visited the spa for some treatments. I had a full body massage, which was absolutely fabulous and my therapist Summer was great. She listened to where i had the most tension and worked on my main concerns and made me feel wonderful, would highly recommend her. My husband also had a very good treatment. The spa was very welcoming and i felt comfortable at all times. All in all, our holiday to the isle of wight was fabulous. Thank you lakeside for making it such a pleasure. We will be back again!

This hotel is in a lovely quiet location overlooking a lake that is rich in wildlife. The hotel looks new and perhaps a little bland but the facilities and friendliness of the staff make up for its exterior. The restaurant was outstanding and the food was fresh and excellently presented. The waiters were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed both dinner night and the bar prices are reasonable too.

My only comment would be to make sure if coming on a package you are booked in the spa separately as any people were being squeezed in. We were booked in luckily but only for part f the package and the staff struggled to find space for us in the other half of the package. Great pool steam room and sauna and jacuzzi. Worth a soak after a busy day on the island. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: When booking chose a room over looking the lake bit more expensive but worth it!

Didn't stay at the hotel only went to the spa as had a voucher for my birthday, was booked in for 1hr 30 mins it says in booklet, it took 45 mins, I had a pedicure, my feet weren't soaked they hardly had any scrub before my toes were painted a quick massage and then told that was it, not impressed with the amount it cost, I was only offered a drink of water after the treatment nothing before not even a water even though I arrived early, don't waste your time or money going there as there are plenty more places on the island where you get a much better service.
