“Super Wedding Venue”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Arranging a wedding (for my daughter and her fiance - now husband), on an island when you do not live on it, is no easy task. Stephen Lee, Heather Cousins and their team did a super job with us and our daughter, who lives on the island. Every help was extended, ideas taken on board and executed efficiently. And we were pleasantly surprised at the affordability of it all.

The venue lends itself indoors and outdoors to England's varying weather. It is a spot of natural beauty and easy to get to once on the island. The food is excellent, even when produced for large numbers. We have eaten there several times in the course of the year and it has always been excellent. What I loved most was the pleasantness of the staff and how they all work well as a team.

We had several guests staying at the hotel - most over 2 nights, and every room was comfortable, well decorated, air conditioned and thoughtfully arranged. The spacious surroundings, lakeside walks, well stocked bar, great breakfast, and of course the spa facilities (of which the pool, sauna and Jacuzzi are complimentary) helped everyone feel relaxed.

There were a few mix ups in allocating rooms but it was all sorted out to everyone's satisfaction.

All in all, thank you Lakeside for contributing to what was a super wedding with lots of fun and good memories. Thank you for making my daughter and her husband feel so special.

I am not a fan of old and tatty therefore I've always been picky when travelling on Isle of Wight, because all of its hotels are reputed as being old and tatty.

But then I found Lakeside Park hotel and I took my other half to celebrate her birthday there over the weekend. What a treat!!! Thumbs up for everything; location - beautiful wild life site near the lake and woods, calm and tranquility, antidepressant (even when it's raining outside!); premisses - modern, sleek, clean and well maintained; room - spacious, clean, quiet with all amenities of a 4-Star; restaurant - excellent quality food, nice offer of drinks; and above all the STAFF - proactive, friendly, welcoming, always happy to help! No wonder, since they are lead by example by the GM himself who welcomed us in the morning for breakfast and served us at the table, checking on us of we had been taken care of to our liking. Yes, sir! And thank you for such a wonderful stay! We'll see you soon!

Room Tip: Rooms on the lake (for a decent fee worth upgrading to Exec room with a view and patio)

We stayed here on a Secret Escapes package for my 70th birthday. This is an excellent well-run hotel. The staff are extremely courteous and do everything to make sure you have a perfect stay. The Spa is well equipped and offers many treatments. We had neck, shoulder and back massage which was very relaxing and refreshing. The English Breakfast is well presented, serving good quality sausages, bacon etc. We had two delicious evening meals and my birthday evening was made rather special when the dessert was served. The setting beside the lake is romantic and relaxing. We had a ground floor room overlooking the lake with terrace and table and chairs. All in all a superb hotel and location and would thoroughly recommend this wonderful experience.

Room Tip: A lakeside room without a doubt. Rooms are very well equipped and modern with tea/coffee/biscuits. B...

I'm struggling to think of another hotel where I've felt as relaxed as I did here. I was quite surprised because on first sight I thought the Lakeside Park looked a bit spartan, but in fact it was very comfortable with plenty of space indoors and out. We ate in the Brasserie on two nights out of the three and enjoyed the food, the views and the service. We both took advantage of the spa, good massages, and the pool/sauna/tub were also good though I imagine they would quickly get crowded at busy times. Overall, a top place.

To give my wife the day off ! We will often go out for Sunday lunch,we have been to many places on the IOW some good some awful but I have to say that the Lakeside was superb. Some people might think it a bit on the expensive side but believe me it is well worth the extra. All 3 courses were very well prepared, very tasty & bought to our table by very friendly staff. We will certainly be returning for a repeat performance in the near future.

A group of 12 girls attended a hen do paying full price but definitely didn't get the service we paid for!!!

Everywhere was clean and tidy but the service and afternoon tea let everything else down.

We weren't greeted and facilities explained to us. We were pretty much left to our own devices!!!
On arrival for afternoon tea at the assigned time we waited firstly for tea/coffee of which the coffee was like treacle and had to sent back. Several of the guests had to make several requests for extra milk etc... At no point was there a table check by any member of staff. They did cater for some allergies, these had to repeated despite the organiser making the hotel aware of these allergies before our arrival.
To add to the whole disappointment the fresh strawberries tasted of garlic and consequently made some of the cake taste of garlic again bought to staffs attention but no apology made.....
Overall a very disappointing visit !!!!!

Thank you for your review and your email. We apologize for your disappointment with your afternoon tea.
Your comments have been fully investigated and we understand that the strawberries were quickly replaced with our apologies along with additional sandwiches and fresh coffee being supplied.
We host many successful parties at the hotel and it is always upsetting to hear when guests have not fully enjoyed their visit to us.

Good food and service. Nice spa and pool. Jacuzzi was a little on the funky side and could do with deep cleaning.
However damp smell and damp stains in rooms and not the luxury you might expect.
Only given a sorry and will try and sort for next time.
