My wife and I have had two great meals at the Fishbourne Inn on consecutive weeks. Only living a 30 minute walk away it is or I should say now is our " local ". It has been tastefully decorated and has a nice outside garden that catches the early evening . On our first visit last week we were offered a table (102) in the bar area. The table was so good, large round and private but still feeling the good atmosphere of the Inn. It was a busy service but all staff worked well in clearing the dishes and serving the food. The knowledge of the bar staff was superb and gave us very good advice regarding the beer and choices of wine. We chose fillet of sea bass, 3 nice fillets for each of us cooked superbly. For starters we enjoyed the garlic bread, but although the deserts were very tempting we decided on a quality bottle of New Zealand white. The meal and service was so good that we came back the following week. Again we were offered a table in the bar area and again a great table this week we chose soup of the day, courgette and pepper served with real bread. For mains we chose from the "specials board" and had cod fillet with Parma ham. Superb.
I am a fussy eater and travel the world you would have to go along way to find better, food, hospitality and service. I would like to thank the manager ( sorry forgot your name) also Sasha on the bar and Zoe who served us and the chief. We will definatly be comming to the Fishbourne on a regular basis.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights for a friends wedding, and this more than ticked the boxes we needed, although there is still room for improvements to be made.

The staff are extremely friendly and polite, but the speed of service could certainly be improved as everything seems to be done at a leisurely pace even if you inform them in advance you are in a hurry.

We stayed in room 505, and although the floor plan of the room is nice and big, due to the angled roof using the bathroom is somewhat challenging. The room itself was nice, clean and fresh but some of the finishing of the decorating looked a little rushed, such as the sealant around the bath and bath panel. One of the other rooms had a shower which leaked into the bar area and when we pointed this out the response was "ok yep, thats room 501" no apology or acknowledgement that it will be fixed. We knew the people in the room and they were not made aware in advance, and so were surprised when it leaked and soaked the carpet.

We ate in the restaurant one night, again the speed of service couldve been better, but when it arrived was very pleasant and friendly. The food was very good, and very well priced. The restaurant seems to get very busy, the kitchen opens at 6 and when we went down there was only 2 tables not reserved for two time slots, and both of these were for two people. Sitting outside wasnt an option as it was raining. We felt that perhaps either at time of checking in or booking they couldve warned us to reserve a table if we wanted dinner.

The breakfast again was very good, with a couple of menu options which they are happy to change to your liking.

One other thing i would warn people about is the way they operate the bar tab. You order your drinks and tell them the room, there is no showing the room key, tab card, signing the receipt etc so there is no comeback on mischarged items. When we checked out 4 glasses of champagne had been added to our bill which when we pointed out they were only too happy to remove, but from the bar staff's perspective they couldnt assign to the correct room.

Would happily stay there again, but equally this could be even better with a few tweaks.

We visited the Fishbourne Hotel as a coffee break on our cycle tour of the coastal path. I wouldn’t normally write about a break for coffee however we were so impressed with the hotel the garden and the location that it is worthy of note.
This is an ideal stopping point on route between Cowes and Ryde. Apart from being a quality hotel it is also in a lovely setting. The outside garden area is attractive and has views down to the water.
I guess we were also impressed with the Bar manager Richard who was able to make “lemon/Lime and Bitters” drinks popular on a hot day at home.
Looking through the bar area the hotel is of a high standard and we are now considering staying here overnight on our next trip

Sure Fishbourne is quiet but it is also in the middle of nowhere. Had dinner and breakfast and none of them where very good, especially the breakfast menu was very british, meaning that it was eggs and bacon in all type of varieties. While that is to be expected in an Inn, the full breakfast was not very good, the bread was fried so it tasted of old oil, the tomato beans where really stale and the mushrooms tasted as the bread, old frying oil.

My main issue was not really the food anyway (even if it is important as there is no other choices for breakfast within several miles)my main issue was that the rooms where way to hot (not a problem for most of the year, but still) and that there was no fridge then to keep any cool drinks in. Also the shower was terrible simply because it made a really loud screaming noise, making it really uncomfortable to take a shower (I actually gave up, rinsed quickly and turned it of). It should be a much better place but I would not stay here again because of it's location.

Room Tip: I would check the showers, I had one that made insane amount of noise, so much I had to abort the sh...

Great evening choice of pub as we live lcoal and decided to go for a walk and popped in to grab a bite to eat. Great selection of food on the menu and choices of portion sizes. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, also wearing tailored shorts which was a little different. The Fishbourne never disappoints. The ladies toilet seats may need looking at, and both were loose.

Intended eating in pub in walking distance of our house but it was overrun with crews etc so we headed off in the car for another local nice pub - remembered seeing sign for The Fishbourne Inn so we decided to give it a try. What a nice surprise to find such a lovely pub - nice décor - very helpful staff, couldn't fault them, and we ordered our food and were not disappointed - portions were large and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there. Would recommend to anyone coming over on ferry or about to leave - perfect for a bit to eat or a drink whilst waiting. Also good to go when on the island. Will definitely be back.

We are just home from the Fishbourne where we had a disappointing meal. The staff were very pleasant but the experience was spoilt by poor cooking. My husband had salmon and asparagus which sounded interesting but he said the fish had little flavour and the asparagus was ok but no sauce or anything to make it interesting. My sausages were tasty but the chips were undercooked. For goodness sake surely frozen chips are not that difficult to cook.
