“Great stay”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

Stayed here for the Saturday night just gone as a couple and had a thoroughly brilliant stay. Recently refurbished everything is new and the refit has been done well and the rooms are spacious , modern , comfortable beds and all room facilities are faultless. Staff are all friendly and welcoming especially Chris( who actually usually runs FOuntain at Cowes) and also the waitress at breakfast was very accommodating and friendly . Couldn't fault anything and have already booked to come back for another stay.

Room Tip: We had room 11 which had amazing view of the Solent and across to main land.

Excellent service, newly refurbed rooms, great pub grub available as room service and right on Ryde seafront too. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Nothing was too much trouble for the smiling staff and breakfast is particularly good. Such a good find I almost want to keep it to myself!

This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel Ryde Castle since the refurbishment. The first time we had one or two niggles. Unfortunately they have not been resolved. The refurb is lovely it is the lack of staff training that is the problem. It is all generally chaotic, half the items are missing off the menu e.g. ham, the beer, they ran out of ales and tried to push what was in the bottom of the barrel on us. No chilli con carne, no naan bread etc, etc. I do have to say that what we did have to eat eventually was well cooked.
we stayed for three nights and heard people complaining each night about various things. With the exception of two staff working in the restaurant there are some very lethargic disinterested staff who appear that it is all too much trouble.
In the main dining area the carpet square is curled up on one of the corners and is coming away from the backing. We saw the waitress trip over it twice but carried on as though it was something she was used to. Then on Tuesday morning the manager was taking a cup or something to a table and he tripped over the carpet nearly losing his balance ( reminded us of Norman Wisdom) but he never even looked down. People on another table remarked about it as well.
Really sums it up to say that if a manager doesn't even notice basic Health and Safety problems what chance is there to give proper staff training.

Thank You very much for your valuable review!

I am confident we have turned a corner on our service offer, team training and food quality & i would like to thank this reviewer as this was the first tripadvisor review i had on my new business after transfering from Cowes. You will be pleased to hear we used your review during three of our training sessions with my new team and we all found it helpful.

For me that is what Tripadvisor is about - Good / Bad it is about listening to the community and really making a difference to our guests getting it right all the time! We trust on your next visit you will notice our improvments and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.

Kind Regards

Our daughter had her wedding reception here on 1st March 2014 and we couldn't fault anything. The service, the food, the atmosphere and staff were second to none. We stayed overnight along with other family members and we were all very happy with our rooms and the breakfast was lovely.
If you are thinking of having a wedding reception here don't hesitate - I'm sure you'll be very happy like we were! Thanks Ryde Castle.

Stayed in February for one night as a solo, due to business in Newport. Downside of solo is same room price but the smallest rooms allocated - though that's certainly not unique to this hotel - that said it was still a supremely comfortable double bed in a super clean room. No sea view, I was overlooking flat roof and some sort of takeaway at the back, but for one night not a problem. Room well equipped with decent TV, wifi, kettle, iron/board, hairdryer and very good shower. I did eat in bar (menu same for bar or restaurant); food was adequate - standard pub grub really but as it wasn't expensive, I didn't expect fine dining. Staff were friendly, polite and efficient and parking on site no problem. I'd stay again if needed.

Walked in this afternoon, to inquire about rates for a two week stay some time in May/June for two.
Was told to go and look online. No rates available.
Tried that. Thought I might be able to get a B & B price perhaps No.. Thought I might have received a modicum of assistance. No.
How wonderful to be so successful.
Guess I will stay at the same Hotel I stayed at last year. At least they helped. I should not have tried to doubt them.

Room Tip: Can't comment on the rest. Didn't get to find out

My wife and I stayed at the Ryde Castle Hotel for her birthday last weekend. We had booked a superior room which lived up to it,s title. We were very pleased with the accommodation, the staff were extremely helpful but I am sorry the food and beer did not live up to standard of the hotel.
The recent refurbishments are superb, the standard of food and drink needs to catch up.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are very good value
