“Terrible evening”
Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

Oh dear, what a terrible time we had. Our room was ok (ish) but some things quite shabby. Evening meal very average. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly, unlike a couple of local ( I was led to believe) characters. These people were very hostile and rude. I asked a young waiter to ask them to stop being offensive and he did his best to help. When the refused to desist I asked a very nice waitress to help, and she explained that they had been drinking and that is their usual behaviour. Felt sorry for the staff, they did their best. What a horrible evening.

A shaggy dog story

We are a dog-friendly hotel but on this occasion the couple allegedly fed their canine companion from their plate which caused several complaints from locals and guests. Staff tried their utmost to be diplomatic but as it was such a busy evening in the Pump Bar it was difficult to attain all the facts.

Feeding a dog from your plate or allowing him to lick the table is not something we approve of. It is very off-putting and many people find it repellent. This may have been at the heart of this incident.

I spent a couple of nights here recently. Lovely place with excellent and friendly staff and a great location. Room was very comfortable and quiet, and has a good restaurant. And only a handful of steps from the sea.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Seaview Hotel in Seaview. The room was big, very clean and comfortable. The staff at the Seaview were very friendly and helpful. The food was very nice , we had breakfasts which were lovely , and also the evening meals were extremely good. All in all a very relaxing break, which de-stressed me nicely ! Well worth it! The hotel was a 3-minute walk from the Seaview bus station (Bus No 8 from Ryde Pier), which was quite convenient too.

I don´t get to the Island as much as I would like, but the Seaview Hotel always rewards a visit when I do. Especially the back bar (hidden away as it's name indicates, but well worth finding). The food and beers are all excellent .

Although we didn't have a sea view, the room meet our expectations. Dressing gowns were a nice touch. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic. There was a comfortable lounge area to relax in. The hotel bar had a lively atmosphere and had locals drinking in it as well as hotel guests. We enjoyed our breakfast in the morning which had a wide range of cooked options.

I have just returned from a most enjoyable Mothers Day meal at The Seaview Hotel. The meal was delicious and the service unobtrusive. We were a group of seven and every person thoroughly appreciated their meal choices which were varied. My vegetarian non dairy eating daughter found something to enjoy, which is a rare event.
A very satisfied family wended their way home.

This is an utterly beguiling place. The hotel is steeped in nautical history with an array of maritime memorabilia everywhere. Some lovely snaps of local characters and the also all the fun of the summer regatta are also on display. What is surprising is how big the place is, like an Aladdin's cave and then slap-bang in the middle is an authentic pub, the Pump Bar, serving local ales and a great bar menu. We ate there one day and in the restaurant on the second night and were well looked after by the manager who was courteous and attentive. The food was simply delicious, we overheard that a new chef had started - we had sea bream, wild garlic and confit tomatoes followed by a surprising lemon meringue dessert. A truly individual hotel located in a village where time has stood still - a great escape!

Thank you for your kind review. We like to think of Seaview as a nostalgic outpost (with the odd mod con). We do hope that you return.
