Rooms/bathrooms were great (we stayed in two different rooms during our stay due to last minute booking). Staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic albeit that dinner in the main restaurant is quite pricey.

We were on a cycling tour of the island and hadn't planned to stay anywhere more than one night. However we loved this hotel so much we didn't bother to move on. The rooms aren't massive but very comfortable and Seaview Bay is a beautiful part of the island. If the weather is warm, have a pre-dinner drink in the front garden and watch the sun go down over the Solent - it's just perfect.

I have some family who live in Seaview and I've visited many times over the years.

This small hotel is definitely one of the best hotels I've ever been too, yes, as some people have said in other reviews that this hotel has a lot of snobby customers, these are not local people but people who own summer properties in Seaview. Our family just take them with a pinch of salt and in many cases have a giggle at their expense!

The decor inside the hotel is elegant and also modern, the food is out of this world. Bedrooms are comfortable and clean.

We have always found the service at the Seaview to be wonderfull, we have never had a reason to complain about anything.

If you want somewhere that is quiet and peacefull then this is the Village for you, if you want McDonald's and Burger Kings then go to Ryde.

Writing as an Islander, now working in Oxford (who owns a family property in Seaview) and also someone who has a degree in Hotel Management, this is an incredibly over-rated hotel.

Since the staff were unspeakably rude to a member of my family, (who have spent a great deal of money there), we have blacklisted the hotel to all friends and relations.

We went in to Reception to hear that the receptionist was telling someone a room was not available for a particular night. We tried to say that we were about to cancel for that night.

The receptionist said on the phone,"I can't talk to you as there are some very rude people here at the moment".

My family has been associated with Seaview for generations, and this hotel is merely a place for posers and snobs. There are many better places, including guest houses.

The amusing thing is that the clients they offended were millionaires as were the people cancelling, and kindly offering the availability of the booking date.

This hotel gets things about right, the food is excellent but other areas are showing signs of the owner resting on his many laurels. I stayed out of season for 2 days and came on a Sunday. Paid for a seaview room which was very comfortable and well situated if a little cramped. Furniture in residents lounge needs refurbishing. I wouldn't want to stay any longer, doing so would mean travelling in the car for entertainment. Some of the staff were not properly trained. The restaurant and bar seemed to be a favourite for the local Hooray Henry Sailing types.

This is based on a visit in mid-August 2003.

This hotel's management, and staff are focused mainly on it's restaurant and the locals who frequent it. Staying at this hotel makes you feel like you are intruding on a private party.

This hotel is not for out-of-town tourists who want to see the island.
It is in a very small remote village and is very hard to find. I would recommend staying in Ryde or a bigger village. There is absolutely nothing to do in this village. The current boardwalk construction make even walking on the beach impossible.

The rooms aren't very comfortable. The water pressure is virtually non-existant. The views from the hotel rooms are of the parking lot and garbage area.

In fairness, the restaurant was excellent. Go for lunch or dinner, but don't spend the night. The room prices are too expensive and are not worth it.

There's part of me that feels I shouldn't write a review of the Seaview as I rather resent all the glowing reviews it gets, it reduces the chances of my managing to get a room there... Having said that, it is one of my favourite hotels, the service is just the right level of attentiveness with privacy, the food is good, the staff are very friendly and the location isn't bad.
