“A delightful small hotel with excellent dining.”
Reviewed 11 June 2010

This hotel has lots of character. The room was very nicely furnished and there were a number of lovely touches, such as the arrival of a hot water bottle each evening! ( necessary even in May!!).

The dining room is most attractive and the cuisine first-rate. In every department the service was superb.
This, slighlty quirky, hotel is a must for anyone visiting the IoW - we will definately go back.

Seaview Hotel takes its name from the small seaside town and is situated on the Isle of Wight. It is about 75 metres from the sea front in a side road. The bedrooms are small but thoughtfully fitted out - some electric points at waist height! Bathrobes, slippers and tea/ coffee making facilities as well as gorgeous shampoos and body lotions.
The entire staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel like their most honoured guest! Your slightest wish is immediately and smilingly fullfilled. The buffet breakfast is wonderful with a huge selection of fresh and dried fruits and nuts for the health conscious amongst you - however a full English cooked breakfast plus a variety of other dishes are also available at no extra charge!
An additional facility is "Face the Future" a chance to really pamper yourself with a selection of massages or facials as well as manicure and pedicures. I particularly recommend the full facial and the reflexology. The beauticians are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Seaview town is more like a village - everyone is so friendly and it is reminicent of the seaside holidays of 50 years ago. The commercialisation is there but very discreet.
Touring possibilities are endless and all within a short car ride away.
One small note of warning - Room 4 is next to the kitchen ventilator shaft which gives out a steady droning noise up to about 10pm. It does NOT however run through night and apart from that the hotel is very quiet at night!
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will be returning there when we next feel the need to recharge our batteries!

A very nice hotel located in a peaceful boating Village on the Isle of Wight. The overall Cleanliness is very high and I was made to feel very welcome from the start. The room was ok.. BUT! There was a four poster bed in the suite which seem to lack curtains around it. Just having a metal frame lacked style to me but I did have a good nights sleep. The bathroom was standard but i did like the basket of bath products. The shower wasn't much to write home about but did the job. Mould around the edge of the bath puts me off and makes me question how well trained the housekeeper is (Use mould remover spray).

The last time I ate at the hotel was 9 years ago and the standards was very high. I'm sorry to say over the years the overall style and food have dropped below standards. Serving a Sirloin steak with pepper sauce and Sliced Garlic Potatoes in a resturant like the Seaview shouldn't had been put on the menu. Serves wasn't to bad but putting more staff on wouldn't have gone a miss that evening. I paid near to £300 for the weekend at the Seaview and I'm not sure if it's Value for money. I've stayed in better room than that without mould around the bath and paid alot less. But don't let this put you off the seaview. It's a clean and friendly run Hotel. Judge it for yourself and see what you think.

My friend and I stayed at the Seaview for 2 nights. We had dinner there one night and were quite disappointed with the food and the service. Initially the service was fawning only to completely disappear. We had dinner reservations for 7:30 that evening; the dining room was almost empty and we were seated in a far corner next to a very proper English gentleman who advised us that the mushrooms and chicken livers were very good if you were very hungry. Our orders were taken by Ludvig who didn't appear very happy with a couple of requests (i.e. more veg instead of mashed potatoes)...my friend ordered a green salad; her main course arrived without the promised tomato salad as set out in the menu...the young waitress noticed and brought out the promised tomato salad which in fact was a green salad, exactly as her starter, with two wedges of tomato perched on top! We declined dessert but were intrigued by one particular goat cheese and asked if we might order only that cheese (and be charged accordingly)...we were told that "they don't do it that way"...so no cheese and no coffee...breakfast the next day was even more of a circus...my friend ordered one 5 minute boiled egg and brown toast fingers; I ordered my scrambled eggs to be well done...my friend received two eggs and white toast fingers; my eggs were not well done and the English muffin very soggy...we ended up ordering brown toast and between the two of us we probably received a half a loaf! The table next to us ordered eggs benedict without the ham; it came with the ham the first time...the second time it was brought back to the woman without the ham and supposedly a fresh one...the woman found ham tucked away so all they had done was whip out the ham! It took one more try for her to get her eggs benedict as ordered. We came back to the hotel later that evening after having dinner at a very good Indian restaurant in Ryde called Cinnamon to find what appeared to be a very clean bathroom and our beds turned down with hot water bottles peaking out. What we discovered was that the cleaning staff had not changed the towels (they had been placed in the bathtub), rather they hung them up and re-rolled the wet washcloths! The hot water bottles from the night before had not been removed and were left in the bed at the foot of the bed. We called and had our towels replaced! The shower in this particular room was so small that it felt like we were showering in a broom closet...fortunately the pressure was very good...it was like standing under a fire hose! The beds were also incredibly hard and not comfortable. The room was very quiet but the decor was drab and tired.

Next day, we discovered at breakfast a new shift of waitstaff...we ordered breakfast and it came exactly as requested!

The people were very nice; the hotel was clean but I think perhaps it is coasting on past laurels. And at paying 100 GBS a night I think it could have offered better services and better food.

We only had the opportunity to stay one night but we had a wonderful time. We stayed in a Gold room and because we brought our dog we were given one on the ground floor. We had an our own patio and were able to sit outside with a bottle of wine and relax. Our room was lovely with a very large bed and tastefully decorated. The hotel is very dog-friendly, we could take her in most areas of the hotel including the dining room, there is a small separate part where we were allowed to take our dog and she got lots of fuss from all of the staff. The breakfast was very good, with lots of choice and well-cooked. Our only very minor gripe is that the staff rest room appears to be adjoining the dog-friendly Gold room and there was some noise but nothing to get excited about. Have no problems recommending this hotel.

We have stayed at the Seaview several times before and always found the staff and food to be outstanding. We stayed in the new rooms at the rear of the hotel and the room was huge with all the amenities you could ask for including a t.v. over the bath. The hotel is faultless when it comes to all the extra little touches, hot water bottle in the bed, Horlicks for bedtime drink, dressing gowns and slippers. All the staff are very helpful and the service standard is very high. The breakfasts were very good and freshly cooked, however the meal on the first evening we were there was not good at all, therefore on the second night we ate out in Ryde - we believe the hotel have changed their chef recently. We did complain to the waitress who spoke to the Head Waiter but to our disappointment he did not come and talk to us.
We would not return to the hotel unless we could be guaranteed that there had been a change of chef.

Came to the island during half term with my brother and his young family and stayed in the fabulous Brian Gardener Suite- amazing to find such high quality accommodation which sleeps up to 8 of us comfortably! There is a beautiful lounge full of quirky cricket memorabilia (my brother loved this- must be a man thing!) with views down towards the sea, four fabulous bedrooms split over two levels, perfect for putting the children upstairs, shutting the lounge door and having a glass of wine as we discovered.

Ordered room service on the first night, which came promptly and was staggered giving us a bit of breathing room between courses and meaning the main wasn’t cold by the time we got to it! i had the Seaview crab ramekin (delightfully crabby- no measly portions or flavourings in sight) followed by venison which melted in the mouth and disappointingly was too full up for a pudding!

We used the day times to explore the Island and where blessed with rather good weather. The Duty Receptionist was wonderful enough to provide me with a little pack of details for all the fun and exciting things to do out of season including road maps and directions to make it that bit easier for us!

The little touches to the Seaview made it that much more welcoming and friendly than many places i have been before. The children received teddy bears at evening turn down, and we received hot water bottles- perfect to take the chill off the cold evenings! All of the staff were helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble! The rooms were cleaned every day, and tidied again at bed turn. The decor was tasteful and elegant - better than some of the ghastly IKEA decorated holiday inn type places out there!

All in all a fabulous and unfaultable hotel!
