Now that both the Batteries are open there is a lot of interesting stuff to look at. Go down the search light tunnel to get an amazing view of the Needles. There is a really nice, nostalgic tea rooms in the look out post. We then walked up the hill to the new Battery and found a fascinating presentation about the British Space Industry.

Great views, almost 360o. Interesting history described. Good cafe, with splendid cakes. But the star turn is its connection with Britain's rocket history. Well worth visiting

Definitely a good place to visit but it has to be a nice day. The views if you walk to the old and new battery are superb. The kids loved the sand making.

We felt a bit as if we had been fleeced!

When we got to the car park at the bottom of the walk we had to pay £5 to park. We did speak to the attendant about the fact that I was in a wheelchair but he just said that it was a 20 minute walk on tarmac! We parked and started out but very quickly realised there was no way I could be pushed the distance and not give my husband his 3rd heart attack!

A lovely couple who were on their way back to the car park told us that there was a phone number we could ring on the sign that would give us some info on wheelchair help. When we got through they said we could take the car up and that there was a free space outside the Old Battery.

So we got back in the car and drove up. Once there we then paid to go around the battery. We could only get in a couple of the rooms, most of our visit was spent overlooking the Needles.

We asked the Battery guys about the parking down the bottom and were told it was nothing to do with them although the parking attendant should not have charged us but instead have given us the appropriate advice about ringing.

On return to the bottom my husband challenged the parking attendant who after a bit of an argument gave us our parking fee back.

We didn’t go into the Needles attraction as everything needed paying for and when you’ve already paid for the parking everything else seems a bit cheeky so can’t comment.
