Went to the Battery more so to see the old rocket testing site. However you get the feeling of being funnelled towards the old battery entrance where you have to pay to enter. Not fantastically expensive around £7.00 per adult but when this is not where you wish to go it feels a bit cheeky. Not massively sign posted where the old rocket test site is, it tells you where the new Battery area is, which you will find are FREE.
So on a personal note was disappointed on having to pay for something I was not overly interested in.
The old Battery is nice, it has nice views of The Needles, information about the site, dogs are allowed pretty much everywhere even the tea room downstairs in door seating. We had a cream tea which was nice.
Eventually got see the rocket area I wanted to see, may be due to precarious site of it, you can't see as much as I hoped, never mind.
You can get good pictures of The Needles from a view point and along the edge just as well as at the old battery.
If you are interested in war time history good cheap'ish place visit.
