This is beautifully presented Victorian cottage nestled between the sea and a woodland walk which gives direct access to the coastal walk around to The Needles and onward to Tennyson Down. It is a 10 minute stroll to picturesque Yarmouth which has a variety of charming pubs which provide good service and food. There is also a local store and a delightful deli which I challenge you to enter without buying there delicious goodies. From Yarmouth there is a gentle and pretty walk along the old railway line to Freshwater. The cottage was a spotlessly clean and well equipped cosy retreat on one of the coldest weekends of the year and I would recommend it to both couples and families.
We stayed here to welcome in the New Year and it was perfect. Lots of personal touches to make us feel welcome and a beautiful little cottage. Really well positioned with the beach at the bottom of the garden and coastal walks from our doorstep. Would highly recommend.
Lovely little cottage in beautiful location, just a minute's walk from Fort Victoria beach, which is ideal for beachcombing although be aware that you can't swim there. Lots of great walks in the area, including Fort Victoria Country Park and the coastal path. Easy to get to Yarmouth by walking along the beach; a slightly longer hike is needed to reach Colwell Bay (good for swimming).
Well what can I say, the house was beyond our expectations. It is just a hop skip and a jump from the shingle beach, and even closer to a lovely wooded area to the rear. There were some comments about it not having a dishwasher, but there are so many fab places to eat out - who needs a dishwasher for breakfast plates.
Oh and on the latter, it wasn't until our last day that we ventured to the Boat House, about 100 yards down the road to the front of the property, and we had the most lovely cooked breakfast, so there's no real reason to eat in the cottage for any meals. The restaurants we did try locally which are definately worth a visit : On the rocks, in Yarmouth a cook your own dinner on volcanic rock, The Hut at Colwell Bay a classy coastal restaurant, The Waterfront at Totland Bay a good alround family eaterie, the George Yarmouth a lovely hotel with a garden overlooking the Solent and the Bugle in Yarmouth.
It is so easy to get to just 5 minutes from the Yarmouth ferry, just perfect.
My granddaughter is already asking when we can go back, and back we will go !
Serendipity cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with some welcoming touches included.
The location is within easy reach of the water's edge and superb walks on the doorstep throughout Fort Victoria country park.
An ideal place for quiet relaxation with some places of interest nearby.
We are very much looking forward to our next visit!
We loved this house. Such a relaxing family holiday, incredible location with the sea in front and the woods behind. I"d prefer not to write this review as I don't want anyone else to go there apart from me and my family! Grown-ups, Kids and dog had a wonderful time. Can't wait to go back.
