Do not assume that a place serving takeaway fish and chips can't also be a great evening dining option... At the Blue Crab, it can!
We were a party of six, ordering starters and mains- every single dish was superb and plates were devoured with glee. Some local beers add interest to the bar.
It was unfortunate we were the only diners all evening, as the attentive waiter was a little too frequent with his visits to our table. Having said that, he was polite, vibrant and well informed on the menu.
The empty room was a little echoey and made it feel more stark than it would if the place were full of people.
Agree with other comments, the toilets are horrid but when in the midst of scant winter trade, it's hardly surprising they are not being upgraded.
Give this place a go if you like good food and service.

Would say this is the best for fish/seafood in Yarmouth. Fresh produce very well cooked and a friendly welcome. Reasonable prices for food, drinks a bit expensive.

A quiet night for the restaurant so we had excellent service.
Delicious food especially the plaice & orange marmalade bread & butter pudding.
Met the chef & owner, a very pleasant man.
Look forward to returning.

Arriving in Yarmouth Harbour in darkness on our boat from Lymington this cold December evening, we'd already decided to eat out but hadn't made our mind up where. The Blue Crab reviews were good! we'd done Salty's many many times, so we booked a table for two for 8:30. We needn't have booked, Yarmouth is hardly crowded out on a Friday in mid December. There were only one table of four there when we arrived.
The house white wine was lovely, so good we were soon on our second bottle. It was pretty strong too!
We chose squid with courgette for starters, not large portions sadly because it was so beautiful, a lovely blend of flavours and texture I could have eaten it forever. That was until the main course arrived...large cod, chips and mushy peas. And when they say large, they mean it, very large battered cod, pure white flaky fish. Lovely chips and mushy peas too. Sall had the special Whiting fillet for her mains. She cannot eat fish with even the smallest bones so asked the waiter to have the chef double check it. Sure enough it arrived diligently prepared with absolutely no bones at all, and above all tasting great.
No room for pudding, we enjoyed the Blue Crab so much we hadn't realised we were keeping the waiter there long into the night, the only people left in the restaurant.
Good value? Surely it is, under £30 for two courses for two people including that big cod portion. All-in with too much wine it was a whisker over £60 for two. Great value and fabulous food in a lovely ambience.

We were lucky enough to take a trip down a side street and find this little jewel and thought we would give it a try and were so glad that we did. The decor is very seafront, lots of wood painted in the colour you would expect a beachhut to be. In a way it has 2 seating areas,1 section of just tables and the second are booths (which seat 4) and the booths would be perfect for a romantic meal with their own dimmer switches and were cosy. We both ordered what was classed as the 'medium' cod and chips,if that was medium i wonder if they bring a fillet of whale out for large as the portion of fish was massive with a decent portion of chips and a choice of garden or mushy peas. I used to work in a fish restaurant so i know all about cooking fish but i do not think i have EVER had a piece of fish that tasted so good in my life, the batter was golden and crisp without being hard and the cod was moist. We were unable to eat the whole meal and you would really expect to have to pay a lot more for a meal of that size. I would advise anyone i know to eat there if you are on the island (even if you just go to Yarmouth TO eat there) and i am sure you would come away a fan. The staff were friendly and very proffesional.
