Just returned from a week in this lovely cottage. It is very nicely decorated throughout and very well equipped. The views are amazing, looking out across The Solent from the lounge and master bedroom. Beach is a few minutes walk from the front door which was perfect for walking our little dog on every day. We didn't really walk in the country park at Fort Victoria, preferring to be on the beach, although we understand it to be very nice. Dog owners should be cautious as we were told that there are adders here. Yarmouth is only about 15 minutes walk away along the water and is a lovely place to go for refreshments/meal. Crabbing is also a very good way to spend some time with the kids in Yarmouth. This was our first time on the Isle of Wight and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Beach Cottage, which was perfect for exploring all over the Island. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone.
My husband, myself and our two young children enjoyed a fabulous short break at Beach Cottage, Fort Victoria.
The cottage is beautifully decorated and has absolutely everything you'd need for a self catering holiday.
Shops, bars and restaurants are either a very short walk or drive and the area is perfect for exploring on foot or in the car.
It's perfect for a what we wanted which was a relaxing family break in a beautiful setting.
Mark and Natasha were also very helpful hosts and I would/have recommended to all our friends
Stayed for 4 nights, the cottage was everything we had hoped for, very well equipped, ver comfortable.
We had a very enjoyable week in this lovely little house. Very comfortable and well-appointed it is really well equipped. The furniture is comfortable, especially the bed in the master bedroom and the kitchen and bathroom are of good quality.
It is within walking distance of Yarmouth and there are two cafes at the bottom of the garden.
The booking process was really good and we received emails informing us of things to do locally and things happening on the island the week we were there. The hosts were professional and obviously good at what they do.
The things that stop it being 5* are things that aren't mentioned on the website and which we felt should be. The back garden isn't "attached" to the property - there is a communal road separating the back door from the garden and this isn't made at all clear on the details. We also didn't have use of the summer house as it doesn't "open" until July (we had thought that June would be summer.)The beach is a non-swimming beach which REALLY disappointed us as we chose the property so the children could swim every morning. I think this should also be made clear on the website because if we had known we would have perhaps chosen somewhere else. The area also isn't as remote as we had thought - there are quite a few houses in Fort Victoria it seems!
These don't stop it being a lovely property in lovely place but I think these details should probably be made clear on the website.
The cottage overlooks the sea and is perfect for watching the yachts on The Solent. It's positioned in between the bustling port of Yarmouth which has numerous quaint pubs which serve tasty meals and the Woodland walk above Fort Victoria . The cafe at Fort Victoria serves a hearty breakfast. From here is an easy 20 min walk to a lovely scenic walk to Colwell Bay which has a sandy beach and a traditional seaside feel with places to buy delicious local ice-creams and your bucket and spade. For the energetic, the coastal path will take you at least as far as Tennyson Downs and has some stunning views. An amazing place to stay. We will be back!
Fantastic family break. Perfect location, stunning views. Super wooded walk for dogs and so close to sea. Quiet area. Cottage had absolutely everything we needed. Clean and welcoming.
Locals all very friendly didn't find one pub that didn't welcome dogs.
Will definitely come back and thoroughly recommend this cottage.
