We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The George and were charmed by the quality of this establishment. Delightful, well equipped/decorated and airy rooms with proper linen and v comfortable beds, excellent food, an extensive wine list and genuinely great service. Lovely residents drawing room next to the bar to crash out in pre or post dinner, and a light and spacious dining room (and a private dining room for larger parties). Manicured lawn with terraces right on the sea. The only reason I gave the 'value' rating a 4 instead of a 5 is that whilst the rooms (with delicious breakfast included) were very good value, dinner (whilst superb quality) was fairly expensive (and hulking starving rugby players may go a little hungry). But I am about 14 stone and was VERY SATISFIED! Lots to do and see in the area, walkers, twitchers and boat spotters paradise. No hotel car park but large long stay car park 2 minutes walk away which was less than £20 for three full days (pay by card in the machine), so you can come and go without having to buy another ticket. We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor, door to side courtyard and perfect for disabled (although we aren't) with a separate walk in shower room (grab handle / seat) as well as quality bathroom with shower. Some lovely rooms upstairs with large balconies / decks. A little bit of gentle Dire Straits piped at us during dinner last night for reasons which are obvious if you dig a little. Beautiful hotel, had a lovely four poster room, friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Superb meal in the restaurant. Situated right on the quay, cant wait to go back in the summer and enjoy a meal al fresco overlooking the sea.
