“Amazing spa day”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Mum and I treated ourselves to a wee spa break between our two summer birthdays and were not disappointed. Feeling decadent, we opted for the total relaxation package.

We were treated like royalty - on arrival we were handed our itineraries and offered a delicious smoothie. First stop was a Pilates class, followed by a 60 minute facial. For lunch we were served really tasty salad dishes in the coffee bar (only criticism here is it would have been nice to have lunch on the spa's designated wee terrace). Later we enjoyed a 90 minute aromatherapy experience.

There are a couple of chill out areas to choose from to hang out in and read magazines between treatments. All are very serene and comfortable. The day also gives you access to the pool and the spa's sauna and steam room facilities.

Overall the day certainly delivered, and both Mum and I left feeling uber relaxed. Our backs felt good after both of us had a couple of muscular knots worked out in the aromatherapy session. My therapist, Rachael was very attentive and Mum got on well with hers too.

I am not a fan of self catering, BUT the cottages were lovely, and the fact that you have a lot to do without weather being an issue is well worth the 'sacrifice' of making my own breakfast and tidying up ;-)
Saying that, on our break 2/3 days were fabulous weather. The pool is very warm, the grounds are well kept and safe and there was great sports activities for the whole family to join in.
I would advise pre-booking any spa treatments though as I missed out, it was fully booked for my whole stay.
Quality of accommodation was very good, as well as the equipment/kitchen stuff provided, heating worked well too (was chilly at night!) and WiFi was usable.
The location is great, and a short hop to anywhere on the island.
I would like the option for more food in the cafe (actual breakfast and evening meals) but will definitely be returning anyway.

Room Tip: We stayed on the main 'green' which is superb for relaxing but keeping an eye on running kid...

First time in Isle of Wight.. We arrive by ferry and the accommodation was just there, 10 min walk away. Fantastic location.

The facilities were superb. It was half term and the place was busier than normal, but we didn't notice. Very safe to children and very clean. Apartments make you feel at home and they have all kind of appliances. I can repeat that everything is like moving for a brand new home and at the same time is very comfortable.

The only swimming pool (indoor) is amazing and the water is warm. The staff all over is very polite and helpful.
Incredible is the space outside as well and each hut has each own front and back door and little patio.

We drove around the island and we couldn't believe how lucky we were, in location and accommodation and value for money.

Room Tip: Any to be fair. We stayed in the SaultBox, number 8. View to the grass and across the swimming pool...

We visited here for a week last year and were a little disappointed with our house and view as there was building work going on. Please to say having come back from a return visit this year, excellent... Beautiful houses lovely place great for young kids, lovely sense of freedom. Sarah from customer services was excellent, great communication. Well worth a visit.

Our 4th visit to West Bay (but haven't been in 5 years). Always wary about returning somewhere after a long period of time but I needn't of worried at all - it was lovely.
Polite unobtrusive service, lovely facilities and clean, comfortable accommodation.
This is not the place for you if you are looking for a fast paced holiday, it's relaxing but without being too quiet. Our kids 10 and 8 love it, the pool is perfect for them and the sports and activities available are brilliant.
We loved the gym and the coffee shop. Towels available for swimming are great. Had a massage at the newly refurbished spa, again, wonderful - thank you.
The island itself is lovely and it's like stepping back in time - we loved it.
Thank you West Bay - we will be back (again)

I had never done self catering before until I discovered the West Bay. Since then, I have had several very enjoyable holidays, studying and relaxing. I generally stay in the winter months when it is quite peaceful and quiet. It's a retreat, a peace haven, a sanctuary. I love the place. The swimming pool, the steam and sauna rooms are only a minutes walk away. The staff are all very helpful. The only criticism I have is my cooking, but you can't blame them for that.
