“Best value attraction on the IOW”

For less than the price of a beer, a beautifully made model railway for "kids" of all ages. The staff were genuinly friendly and informative and if you show interest, you get much more guidance and even more from the visit. Fathers would do well to bring their kids here for quality time together. There is also a small shop and parking is very easy.

“Big Boys' Toy”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Basically two vary large train layouts - one continental and the other British. The trains are controlled by a computer and make frequent stops and starts keeping the stations on the sets looking busy.

Well set up if you like that sort of thing. A commentary or display about its history might be interesting.

“Worth a Visit if You Like Model Trains.”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

We dropped into the model railway at Fort Victoria as a short stay visit prior to catching the ferry back to the mainland.
The model is quite extensive and looks to be controlled automatically by a couple of computers, though it is also closely monitored by the the staff.
The attention to detail is very good, with lots of little whimsical scenes built into the scenery, there is also a sheet supplied to hunt down various scenarios to keep people interested. Additional buttons scattered around the layout allow the user to operate some additional effects, though some of these appeared not to work. Some of the layout shows signs of either being modified or still being built but this did not detract from the experience for me.
The majority of the layout has a European theme (German?) which may not be to everyone's taste, but there is a British themed layout under construction at the far end which may address this in the future.
The Fun fair at the far end of the room is also worth a look and should appeal to children.

“good fun for an hour”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

My 7 year old enjoyed visiting here and I admit I had fun too. They provide a check list with various things to find on the model railway. Its £3 each to enter, from the age of 3 so, if you are just popping in and have a large family then bear that in mind as you will be an hour max
