Warners hotels / resorts are a mixed bag and this one is definitely near the bottom of the pile.
This one is in a great location but putting it simply the place needs some serious refurbishment to bring it up to the standard of the others.

On arrival the staff are welcoming but you immediately notice that the place is at best 'scruffy' and tired and most of the buildings are not up to current day standards.

We felt more than a little disappointed when we first saw our chalet. In my view the chalets need a complete refurb , demolition and rebuild would be better!
Our chalet was supposedly a premier chalet - but quite frankly if that was premier then I'd hate to think what a standard chalet is like . The chalet was warm enough - if a little too warm , the bed was OK but the decor is stuck in the 1980s. The wardrobe was damp with doors that fall off every time you touch them.
The bathroom is not at all good , its very very basic with a shower that made a very loud noise and stopped working completely at busy times, Thew mirrors had lost much of their mirroring , the radiator and pipe work in the bathroom were badly discoloured and covered in the debris of 40 years , the tiling is cracked and dirty and theres no space for anything , they don't even have a loo roll holder or a towel rail , and the towels that they provide can only be described as like worn out postage stamps .

This is made worse by the fact that the cleaning staff don't work on Sunday so the chalets were not serviced at all after Saturday morning .

The daytime and early evening entertainment is really geared up for pensioners with daily bingo sessions etc. but the shows that follow the bingo later in the evening are better . We had a comedian on the Friday and a couple of tribute acts on Saturday and Sunday and they were all very good .
There was a free bar after 6pm when we were there , and that certainly added to the value of the package ,

The food is plentiful , and of an acceptable standard but its certainly no where near the standard of some other Warners resorts .

On the whole I cannot recommend this particular Warners and I certainly won't be going back unless they invest some serious money in the place.

Room Tip: Choose another Warners location, if you must go to this one then ask for a refurbished premier chale...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I am sorry that your experience here fell below your expectations on this occasion.
I am pleased you took time to enjoy our wonderful location, overlooking the Solent and surrounded by the charm of this lovely little Island. As you mention, we have a very friendly team, and we do our very best to make sure our guests have the experience they expect when staying with us.
I am sorry that you were disappointed with your accommodation. Your comments regarding maintenance have been passed on to our team who will assess and carry out any work necessary in the first instance.
We have an exciting programme of refurbishment at Norton Grange through 2014 and I am confident that our guests will enjoy some of the improvements, particularly to our accommodation.
It is the policy of our coastal resorts that we do not offer a housekeeping service on a Sunday; however, any particular requests will always be met.
Our entertainment and activity programme is varied for the purpose of providing entertainment and activities for all tastes. We have one game of Bingo in the early evening for those who enjoy it, and a programme of entertainment in our Waterfront Lounge for those who don't. I am pleased you enjoyed our fabulous entertainment team and found that with our 'drinks inclusive' option, Norton Grange really does offer great value for money.
Kind Regards,
Scott King

We went on this break last week with no expectations considering the price I paid. The break turned out to be the best T@T break we have ever had. We arrived to a hot mince pie and mulled wine, found out the drinks were free between 1800 and 2400 hrs, accommodation was warm, comfortable with plenty of storage. Meals were really good with a very friendly waiter, and the entertainment staff were exceptional. Plenty to do during the day and entertainment every evening. On 'Christmas morning', we all got a present from 'Santa', and as we left for our coaches we each were offered a bag of sweets for the journey home. Will be going again certainly.

We saw an inexpensive "Turkey and Tinsel" trip so we took it, Our expectations were not high but it was a break away. How wrong we were! The staff could not do enough for us making our stay enjoyable and the facilities were very good. The Christmas and New Year theme was very enjoyable and I felt the entertainment team were exceptionally good. Always upbeat, friendly, funny and they all had so much energy.
What I liked most was the simple touches, such as being met with hot mince pies and mulled wine on our arrival, hats, streamers, party poppers, flags for New Year's Eve and on Christmas day, a present from Father Christmas, ending with a bag of sweets for our journey home.
The A'la Carte menu was first class with lots of choice and David our waiter was always smiling and helpful. Our chalet was well decorated, warm and furnished with plenty of storage.
I will certainly be returning to Norton Grange again for the "Turkey and Tinsel" next year.

I had a very enjoyable stay at Norton Grange. The weather was hit and miss which is to be expected at this time of year, there lies one of the problems. All the accomodation is dotted around the grounds and means walking in the pooring rain to get to the main building containing the resteraunt and bars, hence umbrellas provided in the chalet. I am 55 and felt very young compared to most of the guests but boy could they knock the all inclusive booze back. The food was generally fine although our table for four people was tiny and we ended up using an adjacent window seal to stand things on, our Polish waitress informed us one night that the soup was 'Mince Pie' (actually Minted Pea), Hilarious. Im not really a group entertainment person so will only say that the other guests generally seemed to enjoy it although I thought the comedian was very average. Our Chalet was clean although certain aspects paticularly the bathroom that was very dated needed upgrading. When we arrived on the Friday night it was raining and we struggled to find our chalet which was a fair way from the car park to carry all our luggage. We had a problem with the cleaning of our room that was resolved fairly easily. The staff with a couple of exceptions were very friendly, helpful and cheerful. The Christmas decorations everywhere and Festive music was a bit depressing in early November. Norton Grange has a stunning quite waterfront location looking across the Solent to Lymington from which the ferry docs about a quarter of a mile away for easy access. We toured the Isle of Wight on the stormy Saturday it was stunnig and had a nice pub lunch. If you visit this Warners venue Im sure youll have a great time but the things I have mentioned will be apparent.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent break with us, I am so pleased you had an enjoyable stay. All of your comments will be carefully considered.
I am glad you spent time appreciating the stunning views from our Waterfront Lounge, and managed to see some of the Island too, indeed it does have many charms, in all weathers!
We do now offer a porter service to have luggage taken to your chalet when you arrive. All you have to do is park up, and make yourself at home! If you arrive later in the evening, we can offer this service from our main reception area, and a member of our friendly team will even come and assist you in the car park should you require it. Please don't struggle again!
I hope you will return to experience this, and the exciting improvements that we are making to Norton Grange through 2014. It promises to be a very exciting year for us, and for all our loyal guests.
Kind Regards,

This was my first stay at a Warner resort. It is a very warm and welcoming hotel very close to Yarmouth ferry port. We got our room keys straight away on arrival.

Our room: We stayed in a premier lodge which we were really happy with. Plenty of room, clean and modern decor. No complaints on the accommodation. Strangely wonky bedside lamps though...

The Restaurant: We loved having our own dedicated table in the restaurant for the duration of our stay. It takes any stress out of where you are going to sit every meal time. The food was fantastic and I enjoyed every meal and walked away stuffed each time.

The Mariners Bar: this was the main bar where the nightly entertainment was held. It was a decent size room with just about enough tables for everyone but, if you want a good view of the shows, I suggest going to dinner early and then get a table straight after. We enjoyed the interactive quizzes and bingo. The entertainment team and their shows were very good quality.

The coffee bar: This was a nice and relaxing area that serves fantastic deluxe hot chocolate. The view from the windows across the sea is amazing. It must be awesome sitting out and looking across the channel on a beautiful warm sunny day!

Games room: We loved this room as it had a snooker table, darts boards, table tennis, shuffle board all free without the hassle of hiring all the equipment. We do think the pool table should be free too though. It was never busy in there, which was great.

Pool area: We were a bit disappointed with the pool area. I didn't like the fact anyone could look in from outside (a bit of a fish bowl). A steam room would be nice and the bubble pool was disappointing as they are normally very warm but it was the same fairly chilly temperature as the swimming pool. The overall decor and the changing room areas need updating.

Outside: There were lots of outdoor activities like tennis, boules and golf to take part in and ther are some good walks up and down the sea front and in the woods out the back of there hotel. A great way to burn of some of those great and filling meals.

Overall thoughts: this is an informal resort where you don't feel you need to dress up. We did feel a bit too young for this hotel at 37 and 39. I think the overall average age was around 50 but that didn't stop us from enjoying the activities and entertainment. We had a great stay and would definitely go to stay at a Warner hotel again but perhaps somewhere different next time as so many to choose from.

Handy Tips:
1. Leave your towels at home - They provide ones in your room and also ones at the pool.
2. As mentioned earlier, if you want a good view of entertainment, go to dinner early and the go straight to bar.
3. Take decent walking shoes/boots as uneven ground on the walks from hotel.
4. Don't forget your bingo pens!
5. Don't feel you have to finish all the wine you ordered at dinner. They will cork it and serve the rest up the next night if you wish.
6. Go to breakfast early or they run out of croissants and rolls!
