With great weather forecast, we decided to look for a last minute getaway in the school holidays. We booked on the Thursday afternoon and travelled on the Friday. Ferry crossing was all organised by them -included in the price, couldn't have been easier.
Strangely, one of the litt'luns is obsessed with caravans and this was a treat for her - having never stayed in a caravan I had visions of a holiday from hell but it was fantastic. Huge caravan, clean, all the mod-cons. Proper dining table and chairs - not one of those tables like on an intercity train. We had a 6 berth (3 bedrooms) and there was plenty of room.
...even the shower was great - better than some I've had in houses....although don't forget a bathmat or spare towel.
Kids absolutely loved it....especially the caravan obsessed 6 year old. Indoor pool was lovely. Not in a town but a great base for exploring. Good shop on site with everything you needed and at reasonable prices too. Didn't try the on site take away but the menu looked OK and reasonably priced too. Folder provided with local numbers for anything you may need and instructions for everything.

My only grumble was the birds doing a tap dance on the roof at 5 in the morning but that's nature for you.

This was are 3rd Christmas at the Orchards. Due to sickness and adverse weather we had to delay our arrival as usual the staff where excelled in helping us with changes to the ferry with no extra charge. On arrival the staff where ready to help and when we had no water it was solved very quickly. I have travelled all round the world staying at five star hotels. But the Orchards offers total relaxation. Don't go looking for loud entertainment. The social club is good for a cheap pint and a game of darts. For outstanding food the SUN INN at Calbourne can;t be matched.

Having booked to stay at the orchards fairly last minute after reading some dreadful reviews of another site we had planned to stay at, we were fairly apprehensive about what to expect. However, any concerns we might have had were soon put to rest on arrival. We were shown to our caravan, which was modern, bright and absoluteley spotless. The site was lovely and quiet and in beautiful surroundings. The pools, both inside and out, were clean and open to a reasonable time in the evening. All the staff we met were friendly and more than happy to help. Our 2 children (aged 1 and 3) loved it. Will definitely be booking for next year.

We stayed at The Orchards for the final week of the Summer holidays which for us was the first week of September. We had a Pearmain (sp?) caravan. When we arrived we were persoanlly shown to the van and showed round - a lovely welcoming touch.
The caravan itself was spotless, I mean really spotless. I am becoming increasing fed up of the dust under the beds at Center Parcs, this really showed how it should be done!
We also had a brilliant plot on the edge of the playing field so looking out of our window all we could see where cows, fields and even a tiny glimpse of the sea n the distance. If we return I would make sure we ask for this as some of the other caravans were not in such a good position.
The indoor pool was lovely and the charges to use it reasonable, as well as the system for getting in. We have been to sites before where you can never get it the pool as its always full but they use a time slot here if its busy.
The outdoor pool also lovely, our kids really enjoyed the puppet/magic show that happens once a week.
The reason we picked the Orchards was because it didn't have a club house but it had something. I think they have a really good balance, shop and takeaway good, our son loved the pool table and table tennis rooms, but it remains a quiet site.

Not sure if we will return to the Island as so many other places we want to go to but if we did we would certainly return to the Orchards and I would recommend to anyone!
We did quite a lot of eating and days out too so I will add reviews for those separately.

Having stayed at The Orchards as a couple my wife and I have just returned from 2 weeks with our young family, the site is immaculately clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the surrounding countryside is simply beautiful. The site is lovely and peaceful and they have obviously invested in their facilities judging by the new shower blocks - my wife chose to shower in them on more than one occasion despite us having a static caravan for the duration of our stay. A great base for a family holiday that I would reccomend to anyone.
