My Wife and I booked Bishopsdale Oast for a two night stay with three course dinner each evening. With regard to food we are the guests from hell as I am on a carbohydrate free diet and my wife requires gluten and dairy free. Jane took a huge amount of trouble in phoning my Wife and preparing menus to suit both of us. The end result was two delightful evening meals that wouldn't have been bettered in a good restaurant.Iain and Jane were both delightful and extremely helpful.
The " Winter Break ' was fantastic value. Breakfasts were also brilliant with a huge selection of fresh hot food cooked to order.

Staying from the 25th till the 29th of October it really was a pleasure again to live in this wonderful house. We`ve been there now for the fifth time and Jane and Iain again did their best to make us happy. This time I had to see a doctor and of course Iain was so helpful and drove me to Tenterden with his car. In my opinion it is just like at home, very familiar. And as we are not from England and do not know everything it gives a great feeling of safety.
If one compares the prices with hotels for instance, it is very favourable and unbeatable
And of course we will come again next year and we are really looking forward to it.

Can't say what this place is like.

We booked this over six weeks ago, together with a dinner at a local Michelin restaurant - The West House - for a special evening. Got a call today to say they were not able to accommodate us. Seems Mr Drysdale was away when his sister took a booking for a family who took all of the rooms. (Funny how he was away and blames someone else.) So we were put aside but he wouldn't cancel the later booking because they had booked all of the rooms- surely it can't just be the money!! Only reason a cock up on the part of his sister - believe that if you will. In any event the booking was made and the contract broken. Book at your peril and hope he doesn't get a better offer.

This is highly unethical and shoddy business and not what I would expect from a business that sells itself as giving 'a warm welcome from Iain and Jane.'

We hadn’t been as assiduous as usual in looking at the accommodation location in relation to walking to the nearest pub, so we were surprised that we were ‘in the middle of nowhere’ at Bishopsdale Oast. That said, the three-mile drive to Tenterden was not too bad and there was little evening and night traffic. Right off the road, it is an absolutely quiet and peaceful place to stay - great.
There was a good selection of cereals and fruit as well as ‘Continental’ and cooked options for breakfast, including home-grown blackberries and apple. Dining is at a common table, which we are happy with. Our room was spacious with two 3-foot single beds making a Kingsize double, which was comfortable. Tea-making facilities included fresh milk (very welcome), which Iain produced as if by magic on one’s arrival in the afternoon or evening. It had a good ‘country’ feel about it, rather than flashy sumptuousness, showing its character appropriate to its location and former use. Both Jane and Iain were helpful with their recommendations of local places to eat and visit – and were clear about places to avoid, sometimes, in the case of gardens, because it was just the wrong time of the year for that place. Their (really Iain’s) quirky, dry sense of humour is demonstrated by the ‘mediaeval’ feature on the far side of the orchard. You’ll have to find it for yourself! Jane was appalled that we had bought some Bramley apples – there were, literally, thousands ready for picking, together with other eating apples in their orchard. We were given a bag and told to ‘pick as many as you can’. We did. Splendid.

We stayed for one night but it was lovely and quiet, out of the way of any roads and has 2 acres of garden you can wander about plus some wild rabbits in the neighbouring fields.

Very good location to visit the surrounding area and breakfast was good

Very welcoming people and the room was lovely, we stayed in the one in the oast house bit.

Sure we will be back

I stayed for 5 nights at the Oast with a collegue as we were on business in Staplehurst. We were welcomed by Jane and Ian on arrival (also Sky and Spring the black labs) who showed us to our respective rooms. Both rooms were wonderfully spacious, spotlessly clean and had all you could want for a 5 night stay.

The breakfast was cracking with local produce and homemade jams, marmalades and stewed fruit and plenty filling if you select the cooked breakfast with the homemade bread.

The Oast itself is set in the wonderfully peaceful Kent countryside just off Frogs Hole Lane (many silly jokes on the way back from work every night) but is pretty close to Tenderden and Biddenden if you wish to venture out for the evening. Lots of lovely country walks and golf courses in the area to keep the active occupied but if you are more of the relaxing sort the ample size of the Oast and its grounds are perfect for an evening glass of Rioja.

All in all this is a great B&B that ticks all the boxes from cleanliness, comfort, activities, good food and of course wonderful hosts. Thank you Jane and Ian and I'm sure we will meet again.

Cheers

Brian
