We stayed at Tudor Cottage for the weekend specifically to visit the The West House for a special meal. We weren't disappointed both were superb! We had a fantastic meal at the West House where we had the tasting menu with the selected wines. We were warmly welcomed at the lovely Tudor Cottage. Everything was perfect and we all had a fantastic time.

My family and I went to visit some friends in Tenterden, we decided to make a weekend of it, and stayed at the wonderful Tudor Cottage for three nights.

What a delightful stay we enjoyed.

We discovered Tudor Cottage online, and was very impressed by the website, which gives very clear pictures and information. Upon arrival we were even more impressed.

The building is amazing, it is over 400 years old and is full of character and charm, combined with all the necessary modern comforts.

Susan, the proprietor, is a wonderful host who really understands the needs of her guests. Our every need was catered for, even to ironing my shirt for me. Susan made us feel so welcome, and really tried to help us make the most of our trip.

The rooms are so cosy and clean, and the bathrooms are all new and though a little small, are perfectly fine for our needs.

We all slept so well, and we found the house to be surprisingly quiet, even though it is in the middle of the village, which makes it perfect to visit all the restaurants. We recommend that you try the Red Lion for a pint.

The breakfast was first class, it set us all up nicely for our days out.

We would whole heartedly recommend this Bed and Breakfast, it ticks all the boxes.

Well done Susan.

The title of this review refers to comments made by BuffyKent and our host's similarities to Basil Fawlty. Based on our recent experience, we can only agree, the one exception being that Basil was over 6 ft. and Susan is barely 5 ft. We were looking for one night at a B&B near Ashford. My husband is over 6 ft. On the website, Ashley room looked acceptable.. No surprises. It was nicely furnished, clean and warm. We were then shown the en suite bathroom. No matter whether you are 6 ft. or 5 ft., it is a challenge. There is no ceiling. The rafters start sloping to the floor from just above the entrance, which is low. We managed, as one does, but it left a lot to be desired. Sound-proofing is non-existent. Conversations could be heard from the room below and from the room adjacent, with which there is a connecting door. Should a fellow traveller arrive back late, or get up in the night, the outline of the door is brightly illumuniated. Be aware that Susan may enter your room when you are absent for dinner. When we returned we noticed that our used tea cups had been washed and replaced. A nice gesture, maybe, but surely the guests should be made aware that this is the custom at this establishment. We can only imagine Susan's reaction when she discovered her beautiful room transformed by our own pillows and bed covers. We slept on her duvet and found it very comfortable. For those with allergies, it might be advisable to ask about the presence of feather pillows. The latest time for breakfast is 08:30 hrs. Fresh fruit would have been preferred over the small glass of orange juice which we found already poured at the table. The scrambled eggs and mushroms were tasty. The teapot remained on the table, but coffee was poured by Susan on request. To lessen Susan's anxiety and to make the most of your visit, it would seem wise to accept that Tudor Cottage is old - very old. Any modern conveniences are purely a plus. Order the full English breakfast as early as possible so that you don't "hang around for a couple of hours". And, for goodness' sake, make sure you have enough cash on your person! In the event that you don't, the friendly post office clerk can oblige with a card. Expect the unexpected. Susan's comments ranged from being incredulous to a just a little bit insulting. The lady tries hard, but it's definitely more fun watching than being part of the act. I can recall a couple of incidences which I now find extremely funny, but not at the time. So, worth a trip if you're short in stature and need to spice up your dinner conversation. Otherwise, stay clear. As for the rating: it's not bad, but not good, and in no way is it an average experience. The other reviewers obviously had a good time. If you decide to try the Tudor experience, at least you'll know a bit more about what to expect. Incidentally, it seems that Biddenden is not mobile-phone-friendly. As for us, we're going to take Susan's advice and in future, we'll stick to boxes!

My wife and I stayed 7 lovely days in September 2012 at Tudor Cottage and found it to be excellent on all counts.

Susan our host was most welcoming and gave us advice on local attractions, which are plentiful and close by.

The room was lovely and clean with nice views and was always immaculately tidy when we returned each day, as was the bathroom.

The full english breakfast was delicious and served on bone china, in a cosy dining room atomsphere, with plenty of tea and coffeee, with different flavoured juices and marmalades each day.

We spent a relaxing week and were well looked after, I would throughly reccommend this "5 star B&B", which is competitively priced and excellent value for money.

We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: The "Monkwell" room with its private staircase made it feel like a suite of rooms, which w...

My wife and I stayed for 6 wonderful nights in the nicely decorated and spacious Ashley room. The room was perfectly clean. The interior shows the owner’s love for playful details.
The newly modernized bath room is small yet functional. I didn’t mind taking a relaxing bath in the tub, as the roof wouldn’t allow me standing for a shower. A tiny sink snuggles into a little corner.
Although the room is oriented towards “High Street” our sleeps were not disturbed, because traffic is virtually non-existent in the evening and at night.
This B&B with 3 rooms is run by a charming lady who made our stay as comfortable as possible.
Breakfast is a treat in the romantic setting of an old-day living room with British decoration like silver toast racks, silver salt ‘tubs’ and a view of the church and the inn’s garden.
We enjoyed every moment in this cozy B&B and can definitely recommend it. The pictures on the website match reality.

An essential ingredient of a meal at Graham Garrett's exceptional The West House is an overnight stay at the delightful Tudor Cottage. Biddenden is a charming village in the heart of the Kentish Weald and the nearby town of Tenterden offers good shopping and other necessary facilities. In fact a look in local Estate Agents may encourage a move to the town in the future!
Upon arrival at Tudor Cottage we were greeted by our charming and enthusiastic host. Susan is possibly a female version of Basil Fawlty, but certainly much more polite and very informative on the local area! The quirks of the 400 year old property were explained and we were shown to our well appointed and spotless room. The en-suite bathroom was probably the smallest I have ever seen, but it was perfectly formed and once again spotless. I did not manage to work out how to use the shower, but I am not terribly technical and I am sure if I had asked, this would have been explained. No problem, as I enjoyed a very pleasant bath whilst gazing through the velux window at a cloudless sky. The towels provided were soft and glowed white. All the bedding was white cotton and beautifully laundered. The cereal selection at breakfast was good, but we opted for the full English breakfast which arrived prompty and was very enjoyable. As Tutor Cottage is very reasonably priced, and it's location so convenient for the restaurant, it is well worth booking yourself in and so not having to worry about the drive home after an excellent meal.... it is the difference between the tasting menu with or without the selected wines and, who wants to enjoy good food with only a diet coke for company?
