Booked for the brasserie because the menu looked more interesting but was asked if we would like to sit in the restaurant as there was room, which we did. Much cooler and nice calm ambience. Could mix and match brasserie and restaurant menu. Meal was very good, starters quite large, but told this was a new chef who had not got used to portion sizes. Service friendly and helpful. would definitely visit again.

A lovely hotel/pub with a superb menu, lovely staff and really high quality food. It is certainly one of the best pub meals I have had and everyone on the table enjoyed what they ordered... so much so that I now need to plan more visits to try everything else on the menu!

Mine was nothing short of disastrous! It came with 'ham' - I suppose the cook had in mind (as I did) a sort of Croque Monsieur arrangement? Anyway, back to the offending item. The Rarebit comprised cheese mixed with flour - i.e. no mustard, no beer, no seasoning. The ham was in fact gammon and not at all lean: my first mouthful contained a large piece of fat. The bread had not been toasted on either side, so the dish was soggy. £6.95 down the drain. Never again.

They kept the kitchen open for us for a last minute reservation, the service was great and food was amazing! Left feeling very full :)

Cranbrook in Kent is not far from the Sissinghurst Gardens and Mansion. Cranbrook itself is a delightful village. The George Pub and the hotel it's in date back 100s of years. We stopped for fish and chips and a pint of local ale and had a wonderful lunch and chat with the staff.
Highly recommended!
