We have just partaken of a delicious sharing.platter for two with some fries, washed down with a couple of beer shandies for my husband, and a white wine spritzer for me, followed by a really good cup of proper coffee with little shortbread biscuits.

The platter consisted of artichokes, parma ham, smoked salmon and avocado, fried mackerel on a bed of dressed salad, fish goujons with tartare sauce, meatballs in rich tomato sauce, and ratatouille, I might have missed something but you get the picture. Delicious!

The only two things which marred the occasion were that the waitress was quite grumpy, and my husband was charged. £4.10 pence for a pint of lager shandy, can that be right???? Ie £8.20 for two.

We were camping near Bewl Water and turned up on a Saturday night - having not previously booked - on the recommendation of the campsite owners. The bar staff welcomed us, provided us with a table (for 2) and the restaurant staff provided us with a great meal. The ambience was wonderful, the food was magnificent and creative, the beer was divine. We hadn't gone out (or dressed up) prepared to find such a gem just off the A21. Thoroughly recommended.

I was accompanying my wife who was a business trip for the day to the area. I found this place through Tripadvisor and we decided to try it for lunch.
The initial approach to the establishment is spoiled somewhat by the huge recycling bins out front but once inside it is very welcoming.
The food was freshly cooked to order so required us to wait, which as it was a lovely day wasn't a problem and we sat outside in the upper decking area which was "No smoking".
We had a lovely meal and although tempted by dessert (they do a really good deal where you can half a portion of dessert and a coffee for £5) we decided to leave it until next time.

Having heard of this pub through local Farmers Markets we decided to try it out on a lunchtime visit. Drove through the hidden gem of the village and found it almost at the end of the road. Good parking although on a busy Saturday night could possibly be a bit of a problem since the car park itself is not that large. Lot of outside seating but we decided to eat inside. Very friendly staff. We asked for a table and were told to wait for a few minutes while it was laid and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar with our drink in the meantime. Did this and then were led to our table and given the menu which had quite a lot of choice. We decided on the Beer battered fish goujons with the homemade tartare sauce which was delicious. Feeling rather full but wanting a little something else we were pleased to see that they offered a coffee plus a half dessert - we choose the lemon tart which was quite delicious. A good find in a very peaceful spot.
