“Peaceful and Relaxing”

We stayed at The Pottery Shed and found it so
relaxing and peaceful. It was exactly as it is described
by the owners. We were particularly impressed at how clean
and comfortable The Pottery Shed was.
Being down a drive made it feel even more like a secret
hideaway. As you go through the gates down the drive the
garden opens up into what only can be described as
parkland without the people! A hidden gem.
Yet it was very conveniently situated for all the historic
places and gardens we wanted to visit but to be honest we
felt we just wanted to get back to ‘The Pottery Shed’ to
relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
The owner’s Sarah and Ian welcomed us on our arrival with
a lovely cake! They showed us around The Pottery Shed’ and
then very much left us alone to enjoy our holiday. We did
not feel that having the owners nearby a disadvantage
because they respected our privacy but were friendly and
helpful if we needed anything.
There is a village shop down the road which was useful and
Hawkhurst is a few miles drive away where there is a
bigger supermarket.
We will be back next year.

“Tranquil Comfort”

Prior instructions allowed us to find The Pottery Shed without any hassles. We were greeted by Sarah on arrival and given an excellent introduction to the property. We were to find that Sarah was always available for advice. We always find that it is an advantage to have the host live on site so that needed assistance is readily available.

The Pottery Shed was as advertised - extremely comfortable and very well equipped. Everything worked and there were no unpleasant surprises.

The large glass doors opening onto the paved area provided lovely vistas of the large and beautiful maintained gardens; complete with gnarled apple trees, ponds, resident ducks, rabbits and two very friendly dogs. During our stay two sets of baby ducks were born.

We have stayed in a very wide range of extremely varied properties in many countries and it is rare to stay in a property that affords the sort of peace and tranquillity we enjoyed in our week at The Pottery Shed.

The location, as well as being peaceful, was very convenient to sights and convenient shopping. There were two convenience stores and a petrol service station almost next door and a large Tesco supermarket was very close by.

We will certainly return to The Pottery Shed and we recommend this property most enthusiastically.

Thank you so much for the great review. We would like to make a comment regarding the village shop (convenience stores) and the 'petrol service station being almost next door'. We are concerned that this might give the impression that 'The Pottery Shed' is on a busy road. 'The Pottery Shed' is in fact down a fairly long gravel drive which although is in the village is very much tucked away. People who live in the small road on to which the drive emerges are surprised that there is even a property down the drive. There is a village shop down the lane and a small petrol station but we would not describe them as being almost next-door. The Tesco supermarket which was also mentioned is about a four to five miles drive away.

The Pottery Shed is a beautiful house with a nice view. Around the house nice walks in the country. We visited Bodiam Castle and Sissinghurst Castle. Sarah and Ian have lots of good ideas for an excursion or walk. And the beds: they are superb!

We stayed at the Pottery Shed for four nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We were in England for two months and this was one of the best places we stayed. The accommodation was really tastefully decorated and had lovely views from all rooms over the garden. The whole thing has been thoughtfully put together. Ian and Sarah were lovely hosts - very welcoming and personable. We will make a point of going back to Kent to stay there again.

The location is really good, the gardens lovely, hosts very friendly, considerate and hospitable (a lovely home made strawberry sponge awaited us on arrival) and booking process is easy. The Unit itself is very comfortable, with a well fitted kitchen and heaps of space, plus TV and DVD etc, The grounds are delightful and well worth a stroll. There is a small general store and petrol station around the corner and Tesco's is only a couple of minutes' drive up the road. Warmly recommended.

“The delightful Pottery Shed”

Have just returned from a SUPERB four night stay at the delightful pottery shed. Can highly recommend this lovely property. Owners were very quick to respond to booking request and communication remained swift, friendly and informative at all times. Exceptional standard of hospitality going way beyond the norm. Friendly at all times without being intrusive in any way. So many thoughtful touches (fresh flowers, home baked cake, fresh milk in fridge for our late arrival, heating on, fridge cold, smashing info material)..THANKYOU!!! The Pottery Shed exceeded ALL our expectations. It is very clean, exceptionally comfortable ( bed + sofa) and spacious. It is well equipped and very attractively decorated. Great shower and instant hot water. There are sweeping views from lounge and bedroom over the beautifully kept grounds. Plenty of birdlife to enjoy. French doors from lounge and bedroom lead onto private terrace furnished with quality garden furniture. Lots of spots to settle with a good book in the large garden too. Private parking area. Village location is excellent - quiet without being remote. Close enough to allow easy day trips to London, Canterbury, Brighton, etc, lots of local walking. Several National Trust properties/gardens within easy striking distance. Shop, fuel, pub all within short walking distance and further facilities a very short drive down the road. We LOVED it here and hope to visit again very soon.
