We had the pleasure of staying at Godwin House over a weekend. The accommodation is split into two, the smaller oast house, apparently the oldest in England, and the slightly larger garden room. Both are beautifully furnished and there are plenty of thoughtful touches such as the alarm clocks with iPod docks, WiFi and small sweet treats to be enjoyed with the extensive array of teas provided. Similar thoughtfulness extends to the range of products provided in the bathrooms, which go well beyond the standard quality of variety provided in B&Bs.

Upon arrival we were greeted with tea and deliciously moist carrot cake by our charming, vivacious hosts, Seán and Corrina, who were scrupulous in their care of us. No effort was spared by them to ensure that our stay was enjoyable, including providing a taxi service (for a small fee) to and from our restaurant in the evening.

This review should no end without a mention of the sumptuous multi-course breakfasts that greeted us in the morning, which all but eliminate the need to eat lunch. We look forward to returning again in the future.

Room Tip: Even if just coming as a couple we would advise staying in the garden room, which is a bit more spac...

We really enjoyed entertaining the entertainers and having your talented family as our guests. It's what makes our business fun.
Thank you for highlighting the details which we think are really important in making for a memorable visit but which can often be overlooked. We work on the principle of making it how we would like it to be if we were staying.
We do hope we'll have you here again. It will be lively.

A fascinating and atmospheric place full of history . We had a wonderful weekend celebrating my birthday. I would agree with the other reviews that you are treated like family and I would recommend this to anyone interested in staying somewhere with real character.

The history and the atmosphere of the whole area rubs off on us. We think we're very privileged to live here and we did enjoy sharing it with you for your birthday.
You're right about the Oast House being unique. It is a very special place so you must come back since you can't get it anywhere else - though I wonder if you can have a 'unique' experience twice. Anyway do come back and see if we can resolve that philosophical question.

We stayed at Godwin House in mid October for a weekend away to celebrate my wife's birthday. Sean and Corinne our hosts could not have made us feel more welcome on arrival and throughout our stay.

The oast house room is completely unique and like nowhere we have ever stayed before, it has so much character and it took no time at all to feel completely comfortable and relaxed. Everything is well thought out to ensure guests enjoy their stay and we would love to go back. The surrounding area is beautiful and there is plenty to do; but the oast house is so nice that we would have been happy staying in the room all weekend!

We'd recommend Godwin House to anyone looking for a nice relaxing and welcoming break, and expect that lots of our friends and family will be booking very soon. Thanks for a lovely weekend!

It was fun to share your birthday celebrations with you and great that the Oast House added to your enjoyment. It is a special space and puts you right in touch with the essence of Kent we think. If your friends and relatives do come we can promise them the same experience. Of course you are very welcome to come again too and we'd just point out that between you there are two birthdays available each year so come on down!

Just returned from a lovely stay in the garden room of this beautiful tudor property.
The hosts Corinne & Sean treat you like family.
Everywhere in the accommodation is of the highest standard and so comfortable you just can't fault anything.
The attention to detail plus little things like fresh milk and bottled water in the fridge makes this special.
The breakfast sets you up for the day with a wide choice of delicious homemade jams and freshly baked bread, plus a cooked meal of very high quality local produce.
This is the best b& b we have ever stayed in and look forward to returning.

Thank you for taking the time to say these nice things. We always appreciate it when guests notice the details. It's our strong belief that they are what makes a visit special. We've tried to make it the way we would like to have things if we were staying and we're quite fussy.
We look forward to you coming back to the 'best B&B ever" and we promise we'll work to live up to that lovely compliment.

Dank u wel for your kind words. You have seen the sights here in the best way - by walking. We're lucky to have such lovely places so close at hand. Having said that it means you do need to come back and walk some more because you can't get it all in on one trip. We look forward to seeing you again.

The unique oast house accomodation made our stay truly memorable. It is a very well-appointed room with all the modern amenities of a five star hotel, in a sensitively restored 16th century building. The hosts were so welcoming, recommended local pubs and restaurants and even made the reservations. Breakfast was wonderful - served in the morning room of the Tudor farmhouse, and included a wide variety of local produce. This is an excellent base from which to explore beautiful Kent.

Room Tip: The oast house has my vote.

We like "perfect" especially from such a well travelled couple.Thank you very much. We enjoyed seeing your talent as an artist and the sketch of the Oast House is itself perfect. It captures the sense of it exactly. It's always fun to reflect with Australian that the (European) country didn't begin for another two generations after the Oast House was built and that by the time of the First Fleet Godwin House was already more than 200 years old. I don't know if any of its inhabitants were naughty enough to be on those ships.

We agree that the Oast House is a special place particularly if you have a feeling for the past and the traditions of an area. Oast houses are almost the symbol of Kent so you very definitely get Kentish style when you stay in this one - the oldest of all.
Thank you for your kind words - we're glad you got your camera back and we look forward to spoiling you with our breakfasts again.
