“Pepperoni pizza.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2014

Joe and Mimi's only has 3 inside tables. Since its winter, we ordered take out. The ingredients are good quality and the sauce is fine. We are not soft and thick crust pizza lovers so for us the pizza was so so.

“Winner of "Great Granville Pizza Challenge"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2014

For the Great Granville Pizza Challenge (totally invented by us but we encourage others to do this!), the husband and I tried sausage and mushroom pizzas from Granville’s three pizza joints all on the same evening and all picked up within 15 min of each other. We spent $28 total for three small-ish pizzas. We did not notify the restaurants that we were doing this comparison review. Pizza is also served at a few restaurants in town along with other items on their menus, but we did not rate those pizzas (yet!). We purchased the smallest sized pizzas available at each restaurant and sampled each pizza first before chowing down and discussing the flavors, textures, and ingredients. To be fair, we ordered sausage and mushroom pizzas at all locations…oh wait, we didn’t order mushrooms at Creno’s because they only have canned (i.e., yucky) mushrooms. The mushrooms at Elm’s were blanched and were a step up from canned mushrooms. And at Joe and Mimi’s the mushrooms were fresh. The sausage was good (well-seasoned and large chunks) on all pizzas. This was fun!!!

Creno’s = Sweet tomato sauce. Looks like gas station pizza and only has canned mushrooms, but flavor is good. Thin crust but doesn’t pop like like Elms (thin, hard shell outside and softer inside) – soft overall. Building is older but has plenty of seating and feels like a warm, friendly atmosphere. Our Conure enjoys Creno’s the most.

Joe and Mimi’s = Fresh ingredients and lots of good flavor in sauce. Small pizza shop (just a few tables for seating) but the other shops and restaurants around this place are worth checking out, too. Sauce is more robust than Creno’s, toppings and fresher, and it’s a prettier pizza. Overall assessment is that it is superior to Elm’s and Creno’s in freshness, but Creno’s also has a good sauce for those who like sweet sauces.

Elm's = Fun building but parking is limited, definitely looks like a local joint. The staff there seems friendly. Inside decorations are cool, but there’s a bit of preaching on the walls which can be annoying if you don’t like reading bible verses while you munch down on some pizza slices. Crust tastes undercooked and sauce is bland. Very thin crust – crunchy on very outside but thin and soft otherwise.
