Stopped here for a spot of lunch with some friends and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food at a reasonable price.

The cafe area (to the rear of the shop) is a little dark, but on the whole it was an enjoyable lunch.

What a pleasant surprise to come across a restaurant that is willing to serve lunch after the time stipulated in the menu. The food was excellent. My partner and I had the chicken and chorizo stew while our veggie friend had the vegetarian meze. The stew was marvellously tasty and exactly the right amount. The olives in the meze were incredible and I meant to ask what they were, but didn't. This is one of those places that you want to keep to yourself, but the people running it are so lovely that you feel they deserve all the success they can get.

we had lunch here today and it was fabulous - we had the goats cheese with cous cous and harissa and the breakfast - both cooked with flavour and care. Katie, the waitress, offered us excellent service and the food even came out on hot plates. Now you don't get that anymore and we would thoroughly recommend allotment to anyone that is travelling to deal!

Having read some great reviews, we were expecting a lovely breakfast at allotment. We arrived and ordered Allotment Muesli and toast, and one sausage bap plus coffees. The coffees were good but the food disappointing. They'd ran out of baps so offered bread instead. For £5 for a sausage sandwich we expected fresh bread but got processed sliced bread (which they nipped out and got from coop as we saw the chef walk by with it!). Allotment muesli was not homemade muesli but cheap packet muesli, for £4, not v good! There were no scrambled egg/salmon or eggs benedict options as you'd expect somewhere like here. Overall they're making out that they're something better than they are, and charging prices to go with it, but not delivering.

If the daily menu isn't huge, the quality certainly is, accompanied by the best coffee in Deal. All the produce is local and organic, beautifully cooked and served by friendly staff in simple but relaxed surroundings.
