Our friends had their wedding at the Hotel last October and we stayed in a family room with our 5 years old. All excellent - friendly staff, location, service and food. Venue a little small for a really large wedding but overall memorable. Deal is a really good old fashioned seaside town with loads to see and do round and about we would definitely visit again. The Royal Hotel is a proper old fashioned well run hotel with a seafront bar for casual visitors - must get packed at high Summer.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview with a balcony- although this overlooks the outside bar area so may be a little noisy late at night. Rear rooms quieter although road behind.

Our family stayed here for New Year 2013, we had stayed before.
It was a wonderful time, excellent all round, we shall return again.
Cosy friendly hotel. Catering staff very helpful could do no more to help.
Lovely memories.

A WONDERFUL overnight stay in this seafront hotel in a town which has just been voted as having the best high street in provincial England. The Hamilton Room (£100 reduced from £120 for January; it's £190 in summer) is spacious and manages to mix successfully old-world charm with modern fittings. A huge balcony with table and chairs overlooking the sea is reached through difficult-to-open-and-close wooden French windows. Large bathroom is sumptuously appointed with stand-alone bath on four legs, separate large power shower; his `n' hers basins and two enormous electric radiator-towel rails. Good bar. Very friendly and efficient reception staff. Excellent breakfast marred only by extremely slow service on the Saturday we were there (I had to go to the reception desk to find out where the waiter/waitress was). Service soon picked up though after that. * Lord Nelson launched one of his more unsuccessful campaigns from the Royal in 1801, I think; hence the Nelson paraphernalia, room names and references....Only 3 stars...but that's because it doesn't satisfy the raters' demands for lifts and 24 hour room service, so I'm told.

Room Tip: Nelson and Hamilton rooms have balconies overlooking the sea and are obviously the best. price reflects that of course...

We stayed on a Saturday night just before Christmas at short notice. WE arrived late inthe afternoon to a vry warm welcome from James on reception was excellent, we could not have asked for better. The hotel is to be recommended.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are the best.

We have stayed at The Royal Hotel about half a dozen times now and are always happy with the familiarity of the place. As it is an old building the rooms are quite quirky. A balcony room stay is a must; the extra luxury you get with this is well worth the extra price.

Room Tip: All of the rooms we've stayed in have their own character, but if its a special occasion I would always recommend a balcony room.
