“Saturday Night Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

We decided on the spur of the moment to go out for a meal and a few drinks so we had not booked a table anywhere. After trying a few places which were full we happened upon The Lane and we were so pleased that we did. We were greeted by a smiling and friendly member of staff who found us a table upstairs. Cocktails and a Czech beer were ordered and a waitress came and took our order and she was helpful in explaining some of the finer points on the menu. The food arrived in good time and was very well presented and what's more was absolutely great.
The atmosphere of the place is nice, the staff friendly, the food and drink amazing what more can I say but to recommend The Lane.

“For something unique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

This was our first proper trip to Deal and the best part of it was spent in 'The Lane'. The food is not only delicious, but there are some twists on classics, as well as new dishes to try out (new for me anyhow!) Our evening meal was accompanied by the most amazing and I truly mean amazing cocktails. I couldn't pick a favourite but the peach Bellini and the hazelnut espresso were heavenly. And this was topped off by a bloom gin and tonic, with strawberries, a neat touch. Each one, without exaggeration, was a taste explosion. What I'm really impressed with, is the attention to detail, down to the glasses they're served in...through to specialised ingredients. You feel that you're being thoroughly spoilt with each drink.
Breakfast the next morning was a must and this did not disappoint. The breakfast burrito was my choice and it was extremely tasty and satisfying... my husband and son were pretty taken with their classic English breakfasts. It's rare to come across a place that can offer something different but with a reassurance of quality and confidence. Whatever your tastes, give the Lane a serious look. You'll not be disappointed!

“Not what I call gourmet”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

We came here for what was billed as a gourmet evening. I've had better food in a pub and is certainly not my idea of gourmet .
Started with prawn cocktail which basically consisted of Luke warm prawns with what could have been Kraft thousand island dressing. Then we had fish with a new potato cut into four & some green beans which may have been birds eye.
The service was non existent the food was plonked down in front of us by some teenage girls at no point were we asked how or food was or did we want another drink or coffee. They didn't approach us even to see if we wanted the bill so we eventually made our own way upstairs to the cocktail bar .
This was a complete contrast the service upstairs and the cocktails from the male member of staff was terrific , the guy upstairs I think was owner asked how meal was the first person show an interest since we started meal. We then had to go downstairs and approach a waitress to try and get someone to take our money.

Thank you for your response, but am a little confused to what night you came as we don't serve prawns or ever have done? Can you clarify what night you came please as we are not sure you have the correct venue?
Thank you

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Lovely venue for cocktails a great price for them too. Great range of choices. The staff are very friendly and help you choose a cocktail you'll like. Several friends tried to make it down the list, but didn't quite make it. Try the boozy milkshake if you are a chocoholic like me... Scummy. Had mezzo to eat, this was wonderful to share with friends too. The Lane makes for a great night out,
