We have been visiting the Strand on and off since we were Kids . So now we are Retired and Living in Australia we had to see it for the last time . How sad to see it now after all the Happy times over the years . Gillingham Council you should hang your collective Heads in Shame at the way you have neglected this once great attraction for Locals and Visitors alike . It is an Absolute Disgrace . The problems are too numerous to list but the final Nail in the Coffin is the Introduction of Pay Parking . Instead of Gouging the Public all the time , spend a bit of Money Look after the place or is the real Plan to drive people away so you can Close it and sell it to Developers . Sadly we will never see the Strand again .

Great place to see the river Medway, pool for the kids, miniature train and café. Parking is no longer free so bring cash or pay by phone!

It would appear the demise of the park is complete
The pitch and putt/ golf Football gone
No greens , holes filled in and seeded
Many large trees lost branches in the wind dangerously still hanging in trees
And left on the floor
Rubbish still a huge issue
And dog walkers that continue to not clean after there pet , this is not all but there are some that tarnish it for the rest

The five aside court neglected and derelict the tennis court no better
Yet Medway council now feel the need to over charge for what was free parking
However spending how many thousands on a new roundabout road by the strand that nearly three months after starting is still incomplete
It’s a shame nobody from the council bothers to read and ad comment here
As I’m sure they are aware of negative comments
So what is left at the Strand , not much
No doubt will be sold of for housing
Watch this space I said it Nov 2017 !!!!!!

My God, What a cheek and bloody nerve Medway Council have to charge for parking at this site. This is somewhere we and my friends all elderly people would go for a bit of exercise, a stroll along the riverside and maybe to sit and watch the waves. Now particulary for retired people it's just unaffordable. Since it's inception in the 1920's when the then council devised this as a free park for the people there never has been a charge for parking. Now the greedy council not content with it's exorbitant Council Tax and other fees levied on the citizens of Medway want us to pay to enjoy something which we have already paid for over the years. Well they can shove it.
