A hearty breakfast or brunch at the Headcorn Tearooms is always a treat and the food and service is excellent - generous portions, well-cooked, and always hard to choose between the menu options. Lunch options are also good - baked potatoes, toasted sandwiches etc, and the selection of cakes always makes me wish I'd left room for something sweet. It's a lovely place to relax and read the weekend papers, whether it's rainy and cold in the cosy low-beamed rooms, or if you're lucky and the sun is shining, in the delightful garden at the rear. I always look forward to a baked potato and salad with a pot of tea when I've come back from my travels.

This has to be the worst tea rooms experience ever, it was my birthday so my wife had a treat planned near headcorn and therefore had called the tea rooms to confirm their opening hours, this was necessary as once before we had entered the tea rooms at 4 o'clock, their opening hours state 5pm, only to be told that they were closing early and they would not serve us as it had been a quiet day, they informed us on the phone that last orders would be 2.30 and they would close at 3pm, so we duly arrived early at 1.30 and ordered and received our lunch, we then asked the waitress if we could order dessert, it was 2.05pm, to be told that no they were now closed, so we stated that we called earlier and was told that they would be open until 3p.m. and the response was that the owner though they had had a busy day so they would close early, the owner at this stage stood three foot away listening to this conversation. They then proceeded to get their Hoover out at Hoover the shop around us and the other customers still finishing meals.
This was unbelievable and so arrogant, the food was at best ok so how they can be so busy they don't need any more money is beyond us, we will never return here again with this attitude and would urge anyone else not to also
