Owner description: Facing Telford Terrace is a quaisi Victorian sunken garden, erected to celebrate the twinning of Waltrop and Herne Bay. The sundial on the seaward side is a gift from Waltrop, designed by the burgermeister Herr Jochen Mungner. In the centre of the garden is a Portland stone fountain given to the town in 1888 by London Alderman Col. Horatio Davies, who became Lord Mayor of London. (This fountain was originally located near the clock tower).

A very tranquil place to walk around, or sit in and take in the ambience and people watch. Very well looked after little secret garden.

Returned to Herne Bay to see friends and drove to See front to have a wander and especially to sit in Waltrop Gardens a wonderful secret little garden right on the seafront promenade. The downside is the Council now have charge to park and its not cheap and a max of one hour, which somewhat spoils the visit worrying if you are going over the time limit. Suggest parking in a free zone and spending the money on a treat?
