The Bouncing Barrel is a classic micro pub- nothing more nothing less. If you like the sound of top quality ales served in a friendly welcoming atmosphere then this is the place for you.

I should say it rubbish stay away don't use this micro pub, because if I tell you how great this place is you will visit and then it will be busy and take longer to get a beer.. So I won't tell you about the lovely scotch eggs, hand made pork pies, wonderful Kentish cheese that you can enjoy whilst drinking great cask real ale chatting with the lovely Penny, and her other half Trevor also the host of dodgy but friendly customers who regularly visit this great and I mean great micro pub

What a great little place this is, a gem of a 'pub' serving a selection of the finest Real Ales and Ciders ,both local (thankfully not Shepherd Neame ) and from right across the country.
Pauline, Trevor and the rest of their staff are friendly, welcoming, ale and cider knowledgeable and know how to keep the beer in top condition at all times.
We and our friends have already had many memorable and greatly enjoyable times here, despite it only opening less than a year ago.
A pub without a bar, but that makes for a unique 'pub' experience where you can see the ales being served directly from the barrel, which I am convinced tastes better than any ale pulled up through a pipe, and you don't get an accumulation of bodies surrounding the bar, just the attentiveness of the staff who always make sure your glass is rarely empty.
I was bought up on Shepherd Neame and have nothing against them or their pubs(despite trying to avoid them nowadays as they monopolise a lot of this area and frankly some of their pubs really do put them to shame), but theirs and other pubs could learn a lot from the Bouncing Barrel regards customer service, quality of beer( I am certain Master Brew's taste has changed for the worse!),atmosphere, hospitality, general state and cleanliness , price and much more! A beer on average will cost about £3 and a lot more in the Barrel depending on strength, some even less. Cider is excellent too regards quality and value.
Try and visit the right hand loo too to see the amusing seaside picture postcard sketches on the walls!
If you are anywhere in or near East Kent, a trip to Herne Bay and especially the Bouncing Barrel is a must.

I've only been a few times but every visit has been special.Really welcoming hosts, nice clientele and most importantly, fantastic ales. The whole place feels upbeat and optimistic. It's a great example of why micropubs work so well, all the traditional elements are there while all the flim-flam like TV's,karaoke and children are not!
