Despite the outside looking like a 70's East End massage parlour, don't be put off ,the inside is very smart ,nice décor ,comfortable seating, and very pleasant staff.
Whilst not being expert on Asia food the whole party of 6 enjoyed everything they were served and as the bill payer I certainly enjoyed the £120 it cost including 2 bottles of wine and other beers etc and including a handsome tip.
Well worth a visit (once inside !)

We decided on the spur of the moment to pop out for food and ended up at the Coconut Tree at 7pm on a Saturday night, they were extremely busy and yet they managed to squeeze us in at the bar by the window. We spent the rest of the evening drinking wine and eating some excellent food while watching the world go by! Highly recommended and we will definitely be trying their takeout menu on our next night in.

We've eaten here twice in the last few weeks - both times a midweek lunch. Yes, at that time of day the restaurant is nearly empty (Herne Bay doesn't exactly buzz on a weekday outside school holidays :-) ). However, the service is welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is a good selection of noodle and rice-based dishes as well as soups. Staff are very happy to discuss with you what you mean by "spicy" and adjust accordingly. This time we had fried tofu and also tempura prawns to start. Both were handled with a very light hand. The tofu came with a fab sprinkling of fried spring onions, chiilis and sesame seeds - I would be very happy to eat this on toast!

The Kong Chow (I think) had generous amounts of tender beef on tasty flat noodles. Last time I had the Singaporean noodles and they were beautifully cooked. Servings are on the large side (we're not complaining - it meant we didn't need dinner). The coconut water is also good.

The food all tastes freshly prepared. I really like this place. Don't be put off by what looks from the outside as a dark and unwelcoming restaurant - it's anything but.

Having already eaten at their restaurant, we were delighted to discover they have just begun a local delivery service. Would it be as good? Oh yes indeedy. The meals arrived within 20 minutes as promised and all the dishes were hot and freshly cooked (and the noodle boxes were clearly marked which was very helpful). I had the Vegetable Gyoza (Japanese dumplings) with the dipping sauce- these are my absolute favourite! I also had the chilli Udon (thick noodles with veg and chillies) -fab.
Hubby had Tempura prawns and the mixed seafood Udon which he really enjoyed. We added some vegetable spring rolls which also came with their spicy dipping sauce. Complimentary Thai prawn crackers joined our meal. We were quite stuffed!
Though our preference would be to eat in the restaurant, it is reassuring to know that delivered meals are as good.
We are fortunate indeed to have the Coconut Tree in our home town. The people who run the restaurant are charming and so helpful.
Highly recommended.
