The only good thing about this hotel is the location - middle of Hythe.
The staff were unfriendly, almost to the point of being rude. Communications with the staff were difficult due to their very strong accents. Clear impression that they just wanted my money and to give as little service as possible.

The hotel itself was tired and the rooms desperately needed renovation – urgently in the bathrooms. The shower did not have much hot water and only the pressure was low.

Not a good night’s sleep. Single bed was very narrow. Extreme smells from the restaurant’s kitchen meant it was hard to get to sleep. Extreme noise from seagulls at dawn meant I woke up very early.

The car park was hard to find (access in a narrow lane behind the hotel) and had little room to manoeuvre – only suitable for cars smaller than a VW Golf.

Never again!!!!!

Room Tip: don't choose a room at all

Old and worn-out, smelly, hotel could do with a thorough renovation.

When we arrived at the Swan, we were pleasantly surprised by its old world pub charm. We were shown to our room, Appledore, which was at the back of the building and enjoyed a spectacular view of the lovely local historical buildings with little winding lanes that lead up to St Leonard's Church. The room was clean, quaint and comfortable with a TV and tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom had definitely seen better days as had all the facilities at the Swan but this was far outweighed by the pleasant atmosphere and the friendly, attentive staff. The restaurant offered guests English, Indian and Nepalese food. We opted for Nepalese and were very pleasantly surprised. We had an excellent meal that we thought was very reasonably priced. We had a fantastic breakfast at the Swan before wandering up to the church and around the town on Saturday morning. Hythe has quite a buzz with quaint shops and places to eat and drink and is reminiscent of a long bygone era. We enjoyed sun on the beach in the afternoon before going home. An excellent one night sojourn that felt more like two or three and excellent value for money!

Room Tip: Ask whether the room is over the public bar if you want a quiet evening!!

The only good thing about this hotel is the location - central to the town. The rooms were small and dusty. The welcome from the reception staff was unfriendly and when asked about times for breakfast and departure was vague. When other guests walked down the hall the coat hangers in the wardrobe rattled! there was no hairdryer to be seen and we were lucky to get the shower to workThe breakfast was not worth the price we paid for. To top it all off I would recommend anyone staying should check that the keys work to the outside lock which is the out of hours entrance, dont' get caught like we did, waiting an hour to get in!
Never again!!!!!

Having seen a pleasant hotel on the internet, I booked 2 nights here for us and our 18 month old daughter.
On arrival I was shown something completely different. Room was dirty and dusty. The bathroom smelled of drains, which the owner said was acceptable !!

We did not stay here and told the owner such. Booked the Premiere inn in Folkstone.

However, the owner still deducted 1 night stay from the debit card I used to secure the room. Still trying to get it back.

My advice, NEVER STAY THERE.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

Room was cold, storage heaters not working so supplemented by a single electric heater. Bed only had a single blanket and bed spread. Had to request extra towels as they had only supplied one rough bath and hand towel. Shower was grubby/mouldy and not very hot, definately not the power shower and seperate bath as advertised. No hairdryer or sky tv as advertised. The one member of staff we saw was fairly pleasant but command of english was poor.
Didn't bother with breakfast as just wanted to leave.
