“A little step back in time!”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Hythe in Kent, being a Cinque Port, is old, it seeps history! The High Street of Hythe is like an olde-worlde postcard. It's British, its how it was! This is where this cafe, this little oasis of friendliness shines. It has "That" feel to it.
You are made welcome, genuinely welcome.
Sit in or there are tables outside. There are a couple of reviews moaning about the cost, etc.
Just a couple of tips to these people? It is Not McDonalds, therefore, things are not 99p a throw!
Also, my motto, as a reviewer is, if something is not right, mention it!! Say you are not happy. I am 100% sure it will be put right. Don't moan about it 2 days later on this site?

A wonderful, warm, personal welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. The cakes are yummy. Excellent value for money. Will be visiting again and again.

“Truly lovely”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

I live in Hythe and use this restaurant at least twice a week as well as most days for their wonderful hot chocolate. The staff are very friendly and obliging, they take time to chat and make me feel I'm a personal friend which adds to the whole lunch time experience. I have never had cause to complain about their food, the presentation of the tasty food has my mouth watering before the first mouthful. K.B

“Friendly, attractive, unpretentious and good value”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

I have often noted that some of the 'less than positive' reviews of catering establishments in magazines etc, seem to take little or no account of the variations of 'categories' and size within the industry. I write as someone with various practical qualifications in the field of Hotels and Catering including an HND in Hotelkeeping, Catering and Institutional Management, so please be assured that I am not just plucking untutored thoughts from thin air.
One of the proprietors at 'Truly Scrumptious' (the other was cooking) took time during non-pressured periods of business to wander about and say hello to customers and seemed to be seeking comments from clients about their menu and display. Whilst they don't appear to be pretending to be a 5 star restaurant, for the prices charged I think that they offer an excellent eating facility. I saw a great variety of predominantly home-made cakes (including gluten-free), some well-presented light meals and soups (also home-made) and quite a bit of attention to cleanliness and tidiness inside and outside of the small, café-style restaurant. Indeed, a great deal seemed to be produced from a comparatively small kitchen and at a very acceptable speed of service. The waiting staff were friendly and I found the eating experience there excellent. If you like to be served by friendly people who seem to encourage face-to-face comments and you like the idea of plenty of seating and clean, tidy toilets and eating areas, then I recommend that you give this place a try. Thought the food was ok, but was over priced.. Scrambled egg wasn't very fluffy, and the bacon was quite thin and fatty..better cafe down the high st.
