We recently stayed in the triple room - very good size room and bathroom, spotlessly clean and comfortable single beds. Well located at a quiet end of the long high street in the charming cinq town of Hythe. The room had a large wardrobe, fridge stocked with complimentary bottled water (nice touch!) and a microwave but I think the triple room is the only one with the fridge and microwave. No hair dryer in the room so don't forget to pack your own, ladies, along with all the usual lotions and potions as only soap is provided. Parking in public car park adjacent to the property but must pay to pay every day between 8am - 6pm. The proprietor didn't mention it, but there is only one key provided for the building itself and the room, despite it being a room for 3 people so that required some surprise logistical planning and UN-level negotiating skills as my group of friends were arriving / leaving at different times and some didn't want to stay out as late as others, etc. Breakfast was a bit disappointing - £5 for a basic cereal and toast affair served in the room at a pre-agreed time. I'd recommend going out - the proprietor was cooking up some bacon and eggs in his own kitchen downstairs and it smelled wonderful! Friends stayed next door at The Old Post Office for the same price, and said the rooms were the same as the Malt Lodge, in fact it used to be all the same B&B. The Old Post Office had the benefit of free, private parking and all rooms have a fridge where the breakfast items are kept so you can serve yourself a breakfast snack at your leisure, albeit still in your room.

Just back from three nights here. Nice accomodation. Top floor double was clean and airy. Large bathroom - shower gel and soap provided. Location of the guest house is perfect for the town centre.
Change of towels would have been nice, and showering a bit awkward as it effectively being an attic room there's really nowhere to put the shower on the wall - or at least I imagine it would be quite a task to do this and install a shower screen. Not a big deal though.
Owner friendly and helpful and bottled water, tea and coffee provided in the room. I'd happily go back to this place. I'd recommend it for location, cleanliness and value for money.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. We got a very good deal and were very happy. The room was very clean and and had an enormous shower room. There were tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge which was kept stocked with bottled water.
I initially found the bed too hard for my back and asked the proprieter if anything could be done about this. He sorted it out for me with no problem and we had a very pleasant stay there.
The lack of breakfast was no problem and we discovered a lovely place just around the corner in Bank Street called Ginger's Kitchen, which we can highly recommend. All in all we thought this place was very pleasant and extremely good value! We will most certainly return.

We stayed for 3 nights in October got quite a good deal for 3 nights. We were on the top floor and the room was light and airy, if somewhat small. Bathroom was clean and neat, lacked a light on the mirror.
Breakfast, disappointing, was a tray brought to our room, we are both diabetic so could only eat the one slice of toast each. He told us it was £6 but did not charge us.
Parking is in the street next to the Military canal by Sainsbury's. The adjacent car park is pay and display but free overnight to 8 am. I would think in season this might be a problem.
At W. end of high street so convenient for town centre

Stayed 3 nights. The room was very nice - clean with a comfortable bed and reasonably quiet. Unfortunately there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, although the room was non smoking. Bathroom was very spacious but lack of any shower gel/shampoo was a bit disappointing as was the lack of shelving to put anything you might bring with you on. Shower was just attached to mixer tap with nothing to hang it on so had to manage with a hand-held shower. Lots of hot water though. Be prepared to part with hard cash as you arrive - again this was a shock - we knew we needed cash but did not expect to pay 'up front'. We were told to leave used towels in bath so that they could be changed, but this only happened on the second day - after this nothing was replaced - not even the coffee/tea/milk in the room. When we tried to find the landlord there was no one in the building. There was no safety information in the room (we were in the attic room - no fire escape), and also no information on the advertised free wi-fi. Overall, the hotel is very well placed for site seeing but for home comforts I would give it a pretty low score. Lack of breakfast is also an issue - and expensive addition although there are plenty of places in Hythe to get a good value and tasty breakfast. Would not stay again.

An excellent accommodation. Good location in central Hythe and within walking distance of the sea front, steam railway, and right next to the high street for some nice shops, eateries and pubs. Only stayed 1 night but will definitely stay again if visiting the area. Check in was smooth, with the owner making text message contact the day before to confirm check in time. The room was spotlessly clean, large, well furnished and very comfortable. The bathroom was large and well equipped with a superb shower and plenty of hot water. I slept well with minimal external noise apart from the seagulls. My only criticism would be the lack of breakfast - which is not included in the price. The breakfast option which you pay extra for seems to be a continental style, and not really what I want when away travelling. Thankfully there is a very pleasant and good value cafe less than 1 minutes walk away which was open early in the morning when we left - although what happens on a Sunday morning I do not know. Overall, excellent and highly recommended.
