Booked to stay for the weekend using our Tesco points, but checked out after only one night. The hotel is in a nice location on the seafront and our room did have a sea view, but ........ Check in was smooth and the hotel does have a lift. Our room was very small and very hot; we could open the window a tiny bit but couldn't turn off the towel rail in the bathroom. Everything was clean, but there was no where to put anything down and we just felt really cramped. The hotel needs some serious sound proofing as you could hear everything in the rooms either side and above, so no chance of sleep after people were moving around. We were hoping that breakfast would redeem things, but unfortunately not. We went down with still half an hour of serving left but everything on the buffet was very dried up and tasteless, so we checked out and went home to sleep in our own comfy bed - shame. We didn't eat in the restaurant, so cannot comment on quality of food.

We stayed for one night as the ferries to France were cancelled because of a storm. The room we were given (317) was nice and cosy,a bit shabby but it had everything we needed. The bathroom and a viewing gallery were upstairs so it would not be good for disabled persons but we found it a quaint extra..The receptionist was very helpful and the breakfast was very good..would book again.

Although we booked a family room and were given a double, the hotel rectified this straight away. Service really good and friendly staff. Breakfasts were really nice with lots of choice. The only downside would be that the rooms are a bit dated and the windows were a bit dirty but other than that really enjoyed our stay

First impressions count, and the first thing you notice is the small side entrance to a pretty grand looking hotel. Built in the 1930's, it has seen a bit of weathering, but looks clean. It is, very clean everywhere. If only the decorators were as good as the cleaners. Where the paint has been slapped on there is a lot of over brush marks everywhere, patterned wallpaper put up without matching the pattern, and stair edging not fixed down properly. I used the stairs because although there is a lift, there is not room in it for two people and an overnight bag all together. There is no way a wheelchair would fit into the lift. I can only say, the lift is inadequate.

Food was excellent. First night we had a meal in the restaurant, the second we had bar meal, and breakfast on both mornings. Cannot fault the food or the service.

The room was lovely and clean again, but in need of a bit of TLC as far as decor. The bathroom was very well decorated and for a room on the fourth floor the shower was great. Powerful and a good temperature. My wife found the hairdryer a little to far away from the mirror for comfort, but these places are set out more for where the TV fits, and where someone would put their laptop, so not surprised by this.

Staff helpful and polite, but it seemed the young girl on the front desk had a limited understanding of the English language. This seemed evident when she brought our bar meals out, and after I said the scampi was mine, I still had the jacket potato put in front of me.

Overall a good stay, and would stay again.

Room Tip: Sea view would be worth having.

The hotel was looking outdated, although clean if you didn't look too closely. The carpet in our room was covered in dog hairs which I could put up with but then noticed the bed valance was also covered. The room didn't smell thank goodness. The sheets and quilt were clean so we put up with it as only staying one night. Mentioned it on our departure but only got a sorry and a smile. They also failed to mention they lock the outside door at night. My husband went for an early morning walk and couldn't get back in. He had to wake one of the staff who got out of bed in her pj's and let him in. It seems they open the door at 6.30am when the cleaners arrive. On a plus note, it's great for easy access to the beach and the town.

good value and in keeping with area, not a modern concrete block but a a building in keeping with the location. Staff looked after us well. We had a Guide dog puppy with us and they treated her well. location was quiet, parking could be a problem in high season.
