A unique and extremely well-run B&B. The decor throughout is stunning and we loved our room (1): original exposed floorboads and sash windows, high ceilings, beautiful vintage furniture and an enormous bathroom with walk-in shower and roll-top bath. Liam and Louise are sensitive hosts who have put a great deal of thought and care into giving visitors a truly relaxing and luxurious experience. Lots of little extras: a good selection of DVDs and books in the room, a gift set of REN toiletries on departure, a 24-hour visitor parking permit so that you don't have to keep feeding the meter... We liked being able to come and go as we pleased, and our favourite part of the stay was the wonderfully presented and delicious breakfast brought to your room at a time of your choice. An extensive menu with quality produce is offered (from the full English to smoked salmon with cream cheese on toast, pastries, porridge, delicious fruit bowls and proper hot chocolate), and you can select your choice the evening before and enjoy it in the privacy of your room; skipping the awkward morning conversations with fellow visitors common to many small B&Bs. All in all, The Reading Rooms is the perfect place for a relaxing and romantic trip to the coast. Margate itself is a town on the up, with lots of great reclaimed furniture and vintage clothes shops, quirky places to eat and many beaches nearby, as well as the Turner Contemporary.

A wonderful, restful stay. The owners work hard here, the plAce is beautiful, luxurious, stylish and yet has all the mod cons needed too.Breakfast and Bathroom both brilliant. I thought we would have a bit of room envy as wAnted the top floor, but no worries, our second floor room was wonderful. I will definitely go back.I agree with other reviewers about the later than usual check in,but otherwise absolutely nothing to complain about. Will go back.

Room Tip: Don't stress there are only three.

The Reading Rooms is an oasis of calm and excellent service in Margate. Our room (Room 3) was large and airy with a wonderful bathroom. Full size roll top bath and a huge walk in shower all with Ren shower and bath gels. The bed was super king size and very comfortable. The decor is quirky but very clean and fresh. A lovely nights sleep and a superb breakfast served in the room rounded off a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Room 3 was at the top of the house. Several flights of stairs to get there but well worth it.

We stayed at the Reading Rooms for 2 nights on a recent trip to Margate to see where our grandparents lived before emigrating to Canada. This was the best place we could have found. Liam and Louise are great hosts, and have created wonderful rooms that have today's luxurious features combined with old world charm. They provide an extensive menu to select your breakfast choices which are then delivered hot and delicious to your room at the time requested. We stayed in the very large top floor room which features a great king size bed and huge modern bathroom. The stay exceeded all expect ions.

Room Tip: Top floor has great view but you need to be able to handle lots of stairs as it is on the 3rd floor...

We wanted to visit the Turner Gallery and had heard good word about the Reading Rooms, so took the opportunity to visit for a few days. And, having done so, I cannot think of a better place from which to explore the stunning renovation of Margate's old town, with its fab vintage shops, restaurants, etc than the Reading Rooms.
A beautiful room, fronting onto a pretty square, fantastically comfortable bed (best night's sleep in ages) and absolutely the BEST hotel breakfast we've had ANYWHERE EVER. Gloriously huge and well-equipped bathroom, and such nice thoughtful touches as spoily REN toiletries and a little flask of organic milk for in-room teas and coffees, regularly refreshed. Owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, and they have created something very special.
If this is the new face of Margate, I'd say the old place has little to worry about.

If you're staying in Margate and want to stay in luxurious accommodation, look no further. The Reading Rooms are exquisite - a superb treat before boarding a ferry in Dover. A fantastic night's sleep in a super comfortable bed followed by a scrumptious breakfast. The owners have done a wonderful restoration and are attentive to their guests. A lovely experience. Highly recommended.

We stayed here as we had tickets for the theatre across the square. We were so pleased that we chose this hotel. We stayed in the top floor room. Nice view of Margate. Especially in the early morning light. Breakfast delivered hot and fresh to the room. Fantastic range of choice. Super king amazingly comfortable bed. Apart from a few small niggles with shower pressure dropping mid soaping (I'm assuming everyone was showering at the same time!) the mountainous climb to the top floor and the very late check-in. Every thing else was just perfect. We will definitely stay again.
Thank you for our new getaway destination.
