Margate is a great holiday town with a superb beach. I've spent time there with the kids and thought that I was back in 1960. Love it.

As you’d expect, super crowded and loud. Very pleasant during the day. Gets a little rowdy at night! Still, lovely sand for an ice cream and a splash.

Lovely wide, clean sandy beach. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the small round cafe overlooking the beach (Sands) then a few minutes walk to the Turner Contemporary and the shops...behind the Tourist Information at low tide look for the statue of a man submerged in the sea by Antony Gormley.

The beach always looks good. great place for families. Lots of people go down there in the evening to run, exercise and sometimes swim!!! The water I would imagine is still a bit cold at this time of year even though the sun was out all day. I spent a lunch hour in the Marine Gardens facing the beach on the way to the Turner Gallery. There were 2 families with babies and young children playing on the grass and enjoying themselves. Unfortunately on two of the benches facing the green were quite a number of "unsavoury characters" Lets say their behaviour left a lot to be desired. I am sure it is not beyond the capabilities of the local council/police to try to do something to discourage this conduct in this park .Every time I make a trip to Margate I think it is improving. The Old Town is looking good. They still have a way to go but clearing the park where families go to relax might be a good idea.
