Such a delightful hotel. We popped in there for a coffee and look around with a view to holding our 'reunion dinner' there. They were so helpful and the hotel was so nice that we decided there and then that this will be the place. It is almost like a step back in time to the lighthearted days of the early 20 century. It felt like we would see Bertie and Wooster walk into the reception. Have not seen it yet but they do an Olde Tyme musichall type of entertainment on Friday evenings so we are looking forward to that. They have a museum in and about the hotel - most interesting.
We'll let you know how things go as they come to pass.

Room Tip: Once we have had the reunion in September I will do a full appraisal for you. Look it up on the inte...

My husband and I have just visited the Walpole Bay Hotel for sunday lunch. Fabulous experience. Friendly, helpful staff and great food all in an atmosphere of bygone elegance ( maybe a tad faded! )
Refreshingly different, and really good value!!

Booked this as needed a place for my husband and I,teenage daughter and her friend to stay and their interconnecting family room was the answer. From the minute we walked in it's evident that this is definately a living museum. Felt we'd gone back to the 1920s. Fascinating. Comfortable room and fabulous breakfast

Attended this with a group of amateur sleuth friends. it was great. the other guests were also up for a laugh. we all dressed up in 1920's chic which added to the experience.. i have stayed before but this was my husbands first visit and he thoroughly enjoyed the quirkiness of the hotel and is keen to visit again...in fact we have all put our names down on the list for cancellation places for their legendary new years eve party for 2015 ! our room was beautiful , comfy four poster bed and sea views. with dinner and breakfast included such great value we could not fault our stay. would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff for their friendly approach & look forward to visiting again .... possibly for Sunday lunch or a cream tea even

Room Tip: our room was perfect but the staff very helpful in making room changes if required.

I stayed at the Walpole Bay Hotel earlier this week. It was perfect from the moment I arrived with my family until we left the following day. The staff could not have been more helpful. We were upgraded to interconnecting rooms, to allow us more space to accommodate the children. Both rooms were superb, beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds and a gleaming, white modern bathroom set between the two rooms. And so quiet.
Breakfast was faultless.
This is a hotel which makes you feel very welcome; the staff aim to make it a pleasure to be there. We are going to stay again.

Room Tip: The views from the rooms above the hotel entrance, especially on the second floor are stupendous. Ou...

Staff were very helpful, allowing a change of room for a better view. Quirky and characterful is the best way to describe it. It was not their fault the weather was blowy and cold - it was Mid-November.
It is optimistic to describe Margate as changed by the arrival of the Turner Contemporary. Frankly it is run-down and dowdy; 1 in 3 commercial properties are boarded up, and the town desparately needs a boost. How, I don't know.
It was a return to the past for me, having lived in Cliftonville with an aunt in 1956!

Lovely 1920's hotel. Great customer service. Excellent food, lovely room. What else is there to say - oh yes the cream teas. They were the best scones I have had in a very long time. We enjoyed them on the front porch overlooking the sea. A must do experience.

Room Tip: Sea view room every time.
