What a fantastic night we had celebrating our friends 50th birthday, rooms are finished beautifully and have everything you could ever want! The views of the sands and harbour are stunning, we enjoyed a late afternoon G&T on the roof terrace, followed by evening drinks in the bar, we didn't sample dinner but we will next time! Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very welcoming and friendly, we thoroughly enjoyed our night and morning stay and finished off with coffee on the balcony. All and all Margate is in the up and the Sands Hotel has raised the bar to a new level, cool, sophisticated, original, beautiful and cosy, it's a must!!!!!!!! We're going back very soon!

We went for a lunch only, we didn't stay at the hotel. Very clean modern restaurant. Welcoming staff showed us to a table on the balcony overlooking the wonderful view of Margate beach. We had two courses for £15 from the lunch menu. I thoroughly enjoyed my vegetarian selection, my friend had fishcake. Our dessert was lovely. All the time attended on by a friendly waitress.Only niggle was the fishcake could have done with a larger portion. But very
tasty. It's a new hotel and I think it will do well. Give it a try :)

Still early days for the newly opened Sands Hotel. It has a few little problems like wifi connection and door 'key' issues but we had a really good stay. Room was finished to a very high standard and exceptionally clean. Lovely bath and shower. Very effective AC. The rooms all are quite small but that is the nature of the old building.

A really beautiful location. Excellent sea views, right in the town, perfect.

We had a room on the top floor. Although it had its own balcony no view to be had when sitting down but we did not care because just above was the roof terrace. Fantastic. Amazing 360 degree views of the roofs of Margate and the sea. Just the place for tea and watch the sunset.

Pity no service on roof. This is planned for in the future.

Service was very good, with friendly, helpful staff. I would have liked to have seen a member of staff present at all times on the reception desk. Information pack about the hotel etc not available in room. I am sure in time that will appear.

Breakfast was outstanding. Yes I could have breakfast at the Sands every day. As a vegetarian the dinner menu was rather limited with only one vegetarian main dish. If you are not keen on pasta then what is option but to eat elsewhere, which is what we did. We ate next door. Big mistake but that is another story.

I am sure we will stay again because Margate is so wonderful and there is nowhere as good as the Sands in the centre of town.

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view and a balcony. If not available have no fear, the roof is perfect.

This hotel is not cheap but we thought it definitely worth the money. The location opposite the beach and 2 mins walk to the Tate and Old Town could not be better. The hotel is done to a very high standard inside and our room was lovely. The terrace and restaurant overlook the bay and we had a fantastic evening meal watching the sunset, thanks to the member of staff who suggested we move tables to see it properley. The food served for our evening meal and breakfast was excellent. The service was friendly and attentive other than for afternoon tea, where we had to wait a long time and then the tea that we were served was cold. This was a pity, because the two young people who looked after us for our evening meal and breakfast were so helpful. We also enjoyed very much our trip to the Tate.

Congratulations for taking a punt in putting something chic and elegant into Margate.
At £200 per room for a night the service badly let's this hotel down. Not enough staff. Clearly problems in the kitchen.
Breakfast was a farce. Buffett table had run out of many things and were not being replenished. Tables were not reset
resulting in guests helping themselves to cutlery or glasses from other tables. The staff very polite and friendly but run off their feet.
The owner seemed to swan about cluelessly making sure that his own families needs were catered for whilst paying guests were terribly neglected.
On confronting him there was simply no comment, no apology, no explanation, no effort to engage at all just a spineless shrug of the shoulders.
Would I like to return? Yes
Will I return? No, not sure that I would want to risk being so utterly disappointed for £200, an expensive risk!
Dear owner: 'man up.'

We stayed at this wonderful hotel very recently. The hotel is nestled in the heart of the Margate old town, opposite the beach and a short walk from the harbour arm, the old town shops and the Turner Centre.
The Sands Hotel is an absolute delight the staff are warm and welcoming and whilst there is no car park I was able to obtain a parking pass for £5.00 a mere 2 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is decorated beautifully there is a balcony which only people purchasing food can sit out and look out towards the award winning sandy beach which is Margate Main Sands.
We booked a sea view room with balcony, the room is comfortable yet luxurious and immaculately clean. There is a small fridge with bottles of water & some delicious snacks included! The bathroom was lovely with a huge bath and shower and lots of white fluffy towels!
The best part of the hotel is the roof terrace reserved for hotel guests, lots of comfortable seating however I think this area would benefit from a bar and a sheltered area.
We had a fantastic night in margate as there are lots of funky bars & restaurants and we slept very well in the huge bed.
Breakfast was a little disappointing my husband opted for a full English but the eggs were soggy & there was no option of beans which would have been a welcome addition! I had the continental there was a lovely choice of cereal, fruits and yoghurts.
We had a wonderful hotel yes there Are a couple of teething issues but this is a brand new hotel and an absolute joy to stay at!

We came twice in one week!
Our friends told us about this newly refurbished Hotel in the centre of Margate (almost opposite the Gallerie). We planned on having a few drinks, maybe something to eat on our first visit, but we arrived at 4pm so just enjoyed a posh pot of tea on the balcony which was reasonably priced.
We couldnt wait to return so checked into our bargain priced £120 room a few days later & also booked for dinner. The room was FAB, we were'nt fussed about a view or little natural daylight. The designer of this Hotel earnt every penny for its contemporary, absolutely stunning looks. The superb ensuite was another delightful feature.
Dinner overlooking the beach on a lovely summers evening was a delight the food EXCELLENT & not too pricey.
Breakfast was also good, but could have been much better!
Having been opened only for a couple of weeks the Hotel clearly has some teathing problems to overcome before it can be truly GREAT. These minor issues included not being able to book on line, no milk in room, tv not tuned in at all, breakfast wasnt set up properly & the reataurant wasnt properly cleaned from the night before as crumbs were under our table.
Don't let these minor gripes deter you....... get here before everyone else does. We can't wait to return hopefully very soon.
