Hotel is well located and the staff are very friendly .. We travelled a long way , we were made to feel welcome and the room had a sea view ..

Smiths court is a wonderful hotel. The orangery is beautiful and serves excellent food. We got married here and everything was wonderful, would not change a thing. I highly recommend you try this hotel.

I was apprehensive booking an hotel for a group. I need not have worried as the management were very helpful. The location was ideal as we were visiting Canterbury and Sandwich. We had a choice of a varied menu which was served hot and plentiful. We had a disco on the Saturday night and a quiz on the Sunday night which kept our group entertained. The staff carried out their duties with a smile which makes all the difference. All I have had is good remarks from our group. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a group stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

7th-10th June, weekend with a walking club, the staff were excellent and the food very good , they were catering for a party of 47 and the food was delivered hot and well presented, nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: request a sea view.

I had a room on the top floor and is was the quietest hotelroom I ever stayed in my life. That's why I gave this hotel five stars instead of four.
At first it was too cold, but I switched on the central heating and then it was okay.
The food was very good, especially the syllabub. I looked up the recipe on the internet, so that I can make it for my friends. The lounge was quite big. Maybe the staff in the hotel will see me again some time next year.

If you are going to see a show, gig or play at Margates' Winter Gardens stay here. Don't question your reasons just do it. If you haven't been to Margate before or for a very long time, you will find that there is a multitude of privately owned hotels and guest houses to choose from. Some look far less than acceptable, I would be extremely disappointed to arrive at my destination to find blankets hung at the windows (wouldn't you be?). Luckily we hadn't booked one of these.
There was a wedding in the hotel when we stayed. Not our fault, not the hotels fault. You might think that we would have been treated less importantly than the large wedding party. Not a bit of it!
The staff are so friendly and helpful, the building is very clean inside and out and the room was spotless. We had a room at the back of the hotel, o.k we didn't get a sea view but the sea is going to be there the next day isn't it?
What do I look for in a hotel? Good location, polite and helpful staff, clean room with hot water for a shower or bath, clean dining room for my breakfast. The Smiths Court Hotel has all of these and free parking right outside.
As I said at the start, don't question yourselves, just book. You will not be disappointed.

Thank you for your lovely review of the hotel. We are glad that you felt as important as the wedding that we were hosting that day, and we always try to treat all our guests as VIPs!

We are delighted that you enjoyed the helpfulness of the staff, and that you weren't unhappy that you didn't get the sea-view rooms as they were all sold out when you arrived. We have passed your positive comments to the housekeeper about the cleanliness of the rooms, and she is also very happy.

Once again, we thank you for your kind words, and we hope that we see you again, whether you are seeing another event at the Winter Gardens, or just travelling back to the seaside for a break!

Welcome was fine,we were given room1 on the ground floor as my wife has walking difficulties. The room was uncomfortably small with only one chair. The twin beds were comfortable but the view was of drain pipes.
Dinner was good, but I have never before been asked to chose at breakfast from the dinner menu.Breakfast was buffet style and all the usual items were available. The public rooms were spacious with a sea view.
Staff were helpful and the restaurant service was good.

Thank you for your review of the hotel. We are glad that you found the staff helpful. As you travelled as part of a large group, who all eat at the same time in the evening, we ask that all the group pre-order dinner at breakfast time, and serve a buffet breakfast for the whole group.

Unfortunately with the hotel, not all our rooms can have sea-views, but the room that you stayed in has recently been redecorated. It was a standard sized double, and we haven't received any complaints about the size of that room before, so we apologise that you found it uncomfortably small.

Thank you again for your review, and we hope to see you again soon.
