Description: Welcome to The George & Dragon Inn, Sandwich. This property dates from 1446 and has been a licensed inn since 1552. It has undergone many changes since it was built, but from the day it was first licensed over four centuries ago the house has never closed. At present business partners Sarah Boxall and Stephen Wren have the pleasure of running this historical inn. They deliver an outstanding range of traditional food and drink with a modern twist that caters to the needs of every customer. Head Chef Aaron and his team (Marc and Dan) create a new adventurous evening menu every fortnight using as much local produce as possible. Sarah and Stephen have kept this little gem of a pub oozing with charm and character and will continue to do so during their custodianship.

Six of us enjoyed our last weekend away pre lockdown 2.0 in Sandwich and had a fabulous Saturday evening meal at the George and Dragon. Brilliant pate and mushrooms as starters, the chicken, leek and tarragon pie was a hit for the main, served with a plethora of piping hot veg, as was the steak and chips, and the hake. The haddock chowder was so filling my friends struggled to finish the bowl. We shared all 3 desserts across all of us - they were delicious especially the baileys chocolate cheesecake. Would highly recommend a visit.

Highly recommend. We wanted typical English pub food and that’s what we got. The menu choices were great and the food was beautiful! We had steak and a pie and both lovey. The deserts were delicious too. Staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming too and it must be really hard working with a mask on. We didn’t take any cash and there’s not a facility to leave a tip via card machine - so make sure you take some cash if you’d like to tip! Can’t wait to return.

Great meal with husband and Mum. Nice house red, nice round table so we can chat. Husband had monkfish and prawn curry; Mum had liver and bacon, I had Ras al Hanout tagine - all fantastic. Puds were equally divine - sticky toffee pudding, triple chocolate dessert - can’t fault the service from Rebecca and Austin and the chefs are brilliant!!!
