“Oasis of peace”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

A wonderful small nature reserve, unusual for the fact that most of the water is brakish - so little life in water other than the main pond. Lots of birds to see and quiet paths to walk in what is a mainly wooded area

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 27 November 2012

I was a regular visitor here in the 1990s when there always seemed to be plenty of visitors enjoying the wildfowl on the pond which is the main feature here. I revisited one afternoon this summer for the first time in many years and I was disappointed that the reserve appeared to me to be overgrown, unloved and deserted (although from its website it clearly does have a band of passionate volunteers). There were no ducks on the water and no other visitors, the water seemed affected by algae and there was generally a rather dank air to the place. I know this region had a damp summer so perhaps I wasn't seeing it at its best, but I remembered it as a much nicer place. Sadly on this occasion there was no reason to me to linger.

“A little known hidden gem.”
Reviewed 11 November 2012

Well worth a visit even for non 'twitchers' like me. Take a flask of tea and a paperback, chose a nice day, find a bench and leave the world behind for an hour.

“Birds Galore!”
Reviewed 13 October 2012

Well laid out, makes the place bigger than it seems. Plenty of seating for those who find walking abit difficult as the paths can be abit uneven and slippery in places.
Drawback is the limited parking in the immediate vicinity, and the loo was hard to find!
