This central and fairly small café can fill up with locals soon after 12 noon but is worth making the effort to get a seat. One large table, the rest are twins or quads. There is a range of hot dishes, with the Christmas turkey roast special marked up 50p to £7. Others are content with toasted sandwiches and salad. There is usually a special desert, on this occasion apple crumble. A range of beverages and soft drink is available, but did not notice alcohol. They do not take credit cards. Service was immediate to explain the specials and was friendly to everyone. Anyone using the toilets will find them across a small back courtyard and a bit damp and cold in winter.
