In a day when independent cinemas are struggling it's a pleasure to see a film at the Empire.

The main auditorium is cosy with comfortable seats and ticket prices make an evening out an absolute bargain.

IF you are planning to see a film in the second and smaller part of the cinema make sure you book in advance. We just managed to get squeezed in the other week whilst others were turned away. The film was shown in what their web-site describes as ' The Lounge section' situated in the original stalls area and refurbished with chairs and tables and a maple dance floor installed in front of the cinema stage. A slightly surreal experience all round!

A lovely old independent cinema right in the centre of Sandwich. We coose to go there every time rather than the nearby multiplexes. It is being updated with digital projection equipment so will be even better in the future. And the prices are far cheaper than the multiplexes. Recommended

Oddly it was let down by the toilets which looked as is they had been hosed down and left saturated. The projection lacked good contrast but the place was nearly full so it must have strong local support. My wife found her seat uncomfortable. Prices not bad at £4 concession rate.

We stepped back in time when seeing a film at this cinema. The decoration, format of tickets, intermission was just like the cinemas of our childhood, but with uptodate films. No complaints. However, I thought some info. on the walls about the history of the cinema and its renovation would add to the enjoyment of the evening.
