Everything about our stay made us want to come again, the room was excellent, the staff polite and helpful and the area peaceful. There isn't really a lot to do in the immediate area but if all you are looking for is a nice quiet romantic place to stay to simply enjoy the pleasure of your partners company then this is the place to come!

Upon reading the most recent review, I cannot believe I've stayed in the same place. I stayed with my partner for Valentine's day & it was the perfect romantic break. The room was spotless, the bathroom was clean & fresh, & the bed was very comfortable. We certainly couldn't smell anything unpleasant & I was impressed with the quiet ambiance of the barn. The breakfast was delicious with pleasant service. This is not a run of the mill chain hotel & nor would you want it to be for a romantic break.

One night stay in tonge barn was plenty long enough! Room was damp in general but area around door was soaked. Broken glass in wardrobe door, non functioning light bulbs, broken door lock that Houdini would struggle to open and paper thin walls allowing us to hear EVERYTHING the neighbours did of which the least uncomfortable was being woken every time the toilet door was opened. Strong smell of cheap fabric conditioner on bed did little to hide the BO smell that filled the room. Bathroom sink needs a good scrubbing out, limescale all around tap base and some dark substance around plug hole. The block we stayed in just looked run down generally and in desperate need of a lick of paint and some TLC.
On the up side the breakfast was great and 50% of the staff ( that's one of the two we saw) was on the ball, polite and helpful. Err beyond that the best I can say is plenty of parking.
I shall not be back.

We stayed three nights here and although the setting is fine (and would be better in the summer) we were dissapointed with the room. It was very small and had no cupboards or drawers to put our things in, only hangers to hang on hooks above a single bed.Had this bed been removed a wardrobe or cupboards could be put in its place. The lighting was very dim and we had to get th table lamp replaced twice because the bulbs went. Also the 'bathroom' was the smallest ever seen, a small washbasin you couldn't even fill the kettle, a small shower that was not very powerful and no room to move around, and small towels. Breakfast was ok but if you didn't want cooked there was only cereal and milk, no yoghurts or fruit.
The owner was pleasant and chatty but would not return.

Stayed just the one night while visiting town . Lovely staff and attitude all around found it very welcoming. The place was perfect situated just outside of town , you need a car or taxi but that's only expected for being out of town. Great sleep and followed by a hearty breakfast at a good price. Overall a big yes to coming again.

Stayed here for one night whilst on business in the area. What a find, the chalet room was exceptional, clean tidy and very comfortable. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and the atmosphere was brilliant. Would not hesitate to recommend.
