Owner description: A very attractive small market town with plenty of independent shops and small cafes. A beautiful High Street with a lovely tree lined avenue and greens, and an abundance of historic buildings to gaze at including a fabulous 11th century church. Grab a ride on one of the steam trains from Tenterden Town Station and take in the lovely views of the unspoilt surrounding countryside as the train trundles down the track. The title "Tenterden, the Jewel of the Weald" is richly deserved. Free car parking in Bridewell Lane car park every Sunday and on Bank Holidays

Don't miss Hoop Haberdashery on High Street. The owner has amassed an excellent choice of yarn and related supplies, and her button selection is amazing. She was extremely helpful to me while my husband waited on a nearby park bench. I left happy with my purchases and hoping to return soon!!

Cafes, pubs, shops and a stroll. Walk down to the steam railway and museum. Nice people around; no riff raff! Nothing to dislike really.

First visit to Hythe and very impressed with the High Street. This is almost like the way High Streets used to look. Lots of local shops. Two butchers, two tailors, florists, local post office and chemist. Also some more specialist craft and locally produced items for sale. There are several plaques attached to the walls of buildings giving some of the local history which I found very interesting. There are the usual modern "charity shops". Maybe too many?, but better than seeing empty premises' going to waste. Lots of cafes and restaurants. There are also a some good old fashioned pubs! No Wetherspoons here!

Good variety of shops and restaurants/pubs. Lots of historical interest. Nice open spaces close to the High Street. Well worth a day visit if for not longer.
