“Enter, relax and be well looked after - perfect”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

Having re-read some of the words on the Hookstead House website after staying there, I appreciate just how accurate they are, eg. "David and Sue are committed to making your stay stress-free, enjoyable and memorable." and also the description of the lovely house and David sharing his knowledge of the area, what to see, the history etc. For us it was really a case of: enter, relax and be well looked after.
The house is very attractive, and all of the rooms we used (ie bedroom and public rooms) are very tastefully furnished and decorated, in very good condition and clean. Breakfast is good with cereal, fresh fruit, home baked bread and the cooked breakfast is perfectly cooked.
The only hesitation I have in recommending Hookstead House is the risk that it will be booked up when we wish to stay there again.

A perfect treat. I felt I had had a mini-holiday, even though I stayed only one night (Thursday).
I agree with all the other positive Excellent 5 star reviews.
I still managed to use my room (Blue double), the sitting room an dining room, had dinner and breakfast - all excellent.
(I arrived after work at 21.40hrs from London via Ashford high speed rail, and departing at 9am after breakfast), I would choose to stay again for pleasure - my original reason for staying being I needed to be in High Halden Friday morning.) Sue & Dave really looked after me, as they clearly do all their guests - Thank you.

P&R from Dunmow Essex
Had an overnight stay at this most welcoming B&B. Our room was huge and spotlessly clean - even had speciality teas from Sri Lanka! The hosts were delightful. Breakfast served in beautiful drawing room. Our stay felt like a real treat.

My husband and I decided to bite the bullet and go to Kent to see for ourselves why English sparkling wine is gaining in popularity. I chanced upon Hookstead House and am delighted to say just how much we enjoyed our stay there. We aren't a fan of B&B's in the UK normally as the quality is so variable and often there isn't enough space to truly relax and soak up the local environment. Well we spent a very happy two nights at Hookstead House and spent quite a lot of time (when we weren't wandering around vineyards!) just chilling out either in the garden which was a lovely sun trap or in our Four poster room which had a lovely big sofa in it. We were celebrating my husbands birthday and Sue kindly arranged for a bottle of sparkling wine and locally made chocolates to be in our room on our arrival. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. I would recommend staying here if you are touring around the area as its so central. Hookstead house is an old property so you get to stay somewhere which has history and charm what more could you ask for!

Room Tip: The four poster room is roomy but at the same time cosy. Stairs to the first floor are uneven so if...

We stayed 5 nights in the beamed, spacious four poster room.Excellent hosts in David and Sue (and mustn't forget Rosie!). Lovely panelled dining room and comfortable, relaxing guest's sitting room. Location - very near to the delightful town of Tenterden with many other attractions in the area. No point in going on as other guests have already said it all - other than to thoroughly recommend a stay! However, it is the people who make the difference in this business and Sue and David are friendly, considerate and helpful. Thanks again.
